LSD: how many have it and think its worth it?
with my tranny going downhill recently, its time for me to buy a new one. right now i have a b16/crx setup that is NA at the moment. with this low amount of power, i do not have too many traction issues, except when accelerating in turns. i can get a replacement tranny for $300, or an LSD tranny for $600. my budget it kind of tight right now, however i dont mind spending a lot if i know it will be worth it in the end. i'll have a JRSC at 6psi soon, and maybe 8psi down the road. what i want to know is, would i benefit from an LSD significantly in my future setup? i would tend to think i would since the crx is so light to begin with. can someone persuade me one way or the other? usually i dont like these kinds of posts where people cant make their own decisions, however, this is a little different than "what color should i paint my car?"
thanks for input

You know what wheel hop will do? Take a look at a picture of a broken axle someday, and that'll answer your question.
Get the LSD.
Get the LSD.
thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. deep down inside i want to buy it, but i need to convince myself
The LSD is a must ! , And if your even thinking about going supercharged you will need all the traction you can get.
If you can get a LSD tranny for an extra $300 I would jump on it !

The only reason that you wouldnt wanna get the oem lsd with ur tranny is if you were gonna buy a quaife later on down the road. Its well worth the money.
What's wrong with torque steer?
Personally, if your considering buying an OEM LSD, you should reconsider it because those are notorious for breaking if your wheels leave the ground.

can someone back this up or elaborate on this? are these prone to failure?

that really sucks. it seems like it would happen often. all you'd have to be doing is going over bumps while accelerating. after hearing that, i'd say screw spending the extra money
does this only apply to OEM LSD's?

Ask all the Type R guys that track there cars , The LSD 's don't break offen.
I have been running over 250 to the wheels on a stock R tranny for 2 years, I would go with the LSD.

i'm running a quaife in my teg - do I feel the difference? hell yes. My Civic has no LSD, and taking off + taking corners feels so much better in the teg. They both run the same engines too (look at my sig)

IMHO get the differential, but get a quaiffe or any other brand that are good. Soo buy the cheap tranny and then when you get the money buy the quaiffe.

Now THATS what I call fun!So to echo everyone else on this post. YES the LSD is well worth it and YES, the Quafe is the mother of all LSD's
PS. Wayy off topic but do y'all ever wonder what would happen if the FBI or CIA ran a word filter on HT posts? with all this talk of "detonation" "revolutions" and, GASP. LSD you think they would be breaking down the doors any moment

well this is my daily driver and i want to get 50,000+ miles from it still, so i just dont know if that is possible with a used LSD tranny that i dont know the history of. i want this investment (tranny, with or without lsd) to be the last one for this car, since i have so many expenses elsewhere on the vehicle.
hell yeah, I wouldn't dare taking figure of eight corner at 60 mph fully boosting with open diff...
ITR LSD are fine, but they can only hold so much torque before they shatter and break..run quaife, be done with it for the first time...

running 8psi should be fine with an OEM LSD, just make sure its helical limited slip and not a viscous. but if your going to make more power down the line i would say save your money and get a good aftermarket LSD and not have to worry about the OEM one braking.
