TD05H 14b turbo, oil/coolant lines
search is disabled, so if you have knowledge of this turbo, please help me all you can, i am putting this turbo on my DOHC ZC motor, now there are 4 holes on the turbo, i know the bottom one is oil return, i need to know what the other 3 go to, if you have pics that would be great, or if you can just describe it, obviously one is oil feed and the other 2 are coolant, i just need to know where i run the lines, thanks alot
Hold the turbo in front of you with the compressor wheel to your left and the turbine wheel to your right. THe oil drain facing down. THe oil drain has two bolt holes on its outside. NOw, on the top of the turbo when viewed this way is the oil feed line. Its the smallest banjo fitting on the turbo. To the front of the turbo, facing you is the coolant line 1 and behind that is the coolant line 2. NOw, it doesen't matter which one is in and which one is out. The coolant lines are the bigger of the 3 banjo fittings if that helps. If you really want to be **** e-mail me and i'll look at my car and tell you which coolant line is in and which one is out on an OEM dsm. Anyways, you DON'T have to run coolant lines to a turbo if you don't want to. Just run synthetic oil and don't boost before shutting off. Now don't bitch and moan guys, their are some very fast dsm'ers running 16g's and 14b's with over 110 mph traps without the coolant lines.
ok cool, so i could actually just put a bolt in both the coolant lines and disregard them, i plan on letting my car idle before driving and shutting down anyways, can anyone else agree this is ok to do?
Actually its not the best idea to do that at all... I would stick with the safe side and run the coolant lines, it doesnt take more than 10 mins, and a few dollars in hoses.
hum interesting, anybody else have a suggestion for this? Why would it not be good? What about if i idled for awhile after driving, like with a turbo timer.
Its different, the center section was designed to have coolant flow through it too cool things down, thus the oil section isnt large enough to do all the cooling...
We discuss this **** on my board all the time, and I have done various setups..
I'm not saying it wont work, its just that I wouldnt do it, its something that doesnt take that long at all to do, and its safe insurance.

ok cool, thanks abaz for the good info, although i would still like to hear from someone who hasnt been running the coolant lines and how their turbo is still going, im just curious cause to me the less lines in the engine bay the better.
run the coolant line man.im running the 14b and i dont have a turbo timer and sometimes i cant sit in my car and wait for 5 mins to cool it down before shut off so the coolant line will help there. its really easy to do.

Run them if you want, but as long as you don't give the oil a reason to coke (boosting before shutting off) then you'll be fine. Mobil 1 synthetic starts coking at 550 degrees F.
