how to correctly read Chassis Codes

What is the right way you read the chassis code for civic's, between the EK9, EK4, EG6 and so on? is there a website that tells you the names or no, can someone explain how that works? thanks...

They are simply on the VIN.

how can the 93-95 civic coupe be an ej1 and the same as a 96-00 coupe as posted at jdmfan.com?
