I hate my brakes!
ive got a little dilema ok. i bought a brake kit through landspeedracing that included powerslot rotors, axxis pads, and goodridge brake lines. i was doing the install myself when i realized a problem. that with the powerslot rotors on there the axxis pads physically wont fit because the rotor and pads are so thick. everybody tells me i need these pins to hold the caliper open but honda said they should drop right in. i am so confused and my brakes are soo shitty right now its unbelievable. thanks guys.
The piston has to be pushed back into the caliper.. Then the pads will drop in..
If it is to hard to get the piston back in..you can either get a C-clamp (hopefully will fit in there.) or a nifty caliper seperating tool from your nearest AutoZone/Checker..

have you ever used this setup before?
Sam, who is currently on his way to ASE certification in suspension and steering, brakes, and engine performance
This is prolly a lil late but..
I did my rearbrakes this weekend and;
To push the piston back into the caliper you have to rotate it clockwise into the caliper...you can't just push it in.
The piston has an X in it...just get an open end wrench/pliers and spin it back into the caliper...Then the pads should drop in.
Before you drive, just pump the brakes a few times until the reach normal pressure, then you should be good to go.
PS
This was the rear brakes only on a 97 SH.

a pipe wrench works wonders. place one end into the split of the caliper right on the old pad. and the other on the outside. squeeze and they should recess. do the same for the other side. now dropout the old pads. place the new ones in. slide the rotor in and bolt it back into place.

That works on most calipers...I've done it on Dodge Rams/Chevy S10's. But it wouldn't work on the Lude, even w/the brake caliper tool..
Just twist the piston clockwise, it will recede back into the caliper, and stay there...and it wil seperate, slide the pads in and put the caliper back on..
Just another token of how good Honda Engineering is...they eliminate the need for the extra tool.

ya i replaced my calipers(legend gs)rotors(brembo blanks)pads(aem)and brake lines(stainless) last week. you just have to push the caliper piston back in there...its not too hard. i hope he got it figured out
I honestly don't know why you guys are using These huge *** tools, to do a simple job though. (That is Sams style though...
)
I just used an open end wrench, stuck half of it in the caliper...turned it by hand.
Maybe my brakes were softer...I had both calipers off, that what you guys did.?? Mind you, I only did my rears...Waiting for NSX/Legend setup for the front.
