Ok this summer I will have my car re-done. Body work and paint job. She has everything a 10 year civic would have. Nice speedhole in the rear quarter panel, rust on the trunk lid, hole where the ricer put the wing on.

I was figuring that all in all a new paint job and body work at someplace other than maaco would cost around $1500. Which I think would be a fair price.

Is this off and how much do you love you car after it looks brand new? I am expecting to fall in love with my car again after this.

That rust hole that happens to all Civic's in the rear quarter panels. I call it a speedhole because of a simpsons epidsode.

 

ahh I see. You guys tend to forget, living in SoCal, we don't see rust much.

Anyhow, 1500-2000 is a fair price I say. It's normally 1500 to repaint the car the same color, but if there's body work needed, it's really up to the shop to determine if they are going to throw that in or charge extra.

 

do those prices include "prep work"

MOB qouted me $1,500 just to paint the outside of my car. No door jam or engine bay.

 

my Macco does not do rust... because they cant have a warrenty on it. Does yours? Other then that i think it might be 600-1000 alone on the rust depending on the severity, if you have alot of rust it can go up to 2000 easily because if they cant patch the rust spots they will have to weld new sheet metal, or cut out the rear panel and weld a new(used) one on.. then a macco paint job probably 500-800 but from what i have hear macco does a shitty job. So a good paint job from a shop is probably 800-1500.

macco is cheap cause they use cheap paint that fades a lil faster than PPG plus there prep work isnt that great for cheap jobs...1500 sounds right since you have to fill in rust holes and wing holes

 

never happened to any of my civics but then again i am so-cal and we have no snow

 

1500 I say is the minimum. There is more labor to weld in patch panels and etc..plus they will have to fill and shape bodyfiller over the repairs. I put my money somewhere around $2,000.
