Go Go Gadget Honda Reliability
I know this doesn't belong here, but this forum is my home and the only real one I check here at H-T on a regular basis.
My '90 Integra died today a block from my house with 1/4 million miles on the odometer.
The ****** died and won't turn over at all. Everything electrical works and I just hear the ******* starter spinning, but the bitch won't turn over.
The only thing I can think of is that the oil was low (it has the normal cam seal problem that I hadn't gotten around to fixing). I hadn't driven it in two days and when I checked the level it didn't look like it had much if any in there, but it was ******* sailing two days before with no problems. I'm really hoping it didn't seize on me.
Anyone else have any ideas on what might've went wrong.

does the starter spin freely...not making conntact with the flywheel at all?
sound like you have some broken teeth on the flywheel

Yes, starter spins freely.
wait...
you said you checked the oil but it looked like there was none
and you wonder why it died?
congrats, you have a 400lb paperweight.

There was some, just not much. I put oil in the car and check the level all the time because of the cam seal leaking and I just put some in a week ago, so I doubt it went dry since then. I HOPE not, but with the Civic in the shop and this car broken, looks like I'm taking public transportation....
heh, I will tommorow. Just figured I'd see if anyone else could come up with a definite idea on what they think is wrong, cause I can't, so I know if I need to have this car towed to the shop or the junkyard.

well if the starter spins but it dosent crank you could have a busted starter solenoid or broken flywheel teeth (very unlikley)
push start her.
push start her.

well if the starter spins but does not engage it is the starter, it is rare that a flywheel teeht just snap or break off, sounds like a starter.
but then again neither the starter nor flywheel would cause the car to just die...

Gonna try to push start her tommorow and go get a new starter. Any way to tell if its seized besides ripping off the head?
I'm putting my bets on the starter.
You say that the starter spins but the engine doesn't turn over? sounds like the flywheel or starter pinion gear. If the engine IS turning over do all the usual checks; fuel, spark, etc.

ive seen many flywheels with broken teeth...its more common then people think...it could also just be the pinoin tooth on the starter that broke....let us know
I might've stalled. I was busy trying not to veer into the giant SUV on the side of the road when it died.
No pop-starting. Engine chugged a TINY bit but wouldn't start. Should I still give the starter a go?

I suspect that your timing belt is broken, did the car just suddenly die? what you can do is open up the oil cap, and crank the engine and if the cams and valves not moving, you have a broken timing belt. Other thing that could be bad is your distributor. But from what you stated, I suspect the timing belt. If you engine is seized your car won't even crank.
Belts are fine. The cam seal is ******* ridiculous when I try to start it it just sit there and vibrates like a ****...which just leads me to believe that it might've really seized, but I don't know. I'm gonna yank out the starter when its nice out again (it was raining all day today) and take a look at the teeth on it and the flywheel to see if thats the problem, and perhaps give it one more go at pop starting the car.
The shop my Civic is at should have the car finished tommorow or sometime nextweek so hopefully I won't be without a car for long.

The whole post an only 1 person said the timing belt, hello a seized motor doesn't spin therefor neither will the crank. Well I think it is either the timing belt or the dist. I would check those 2 first. When you crank it does the crank pulley spin? If so then your starter is fine.
hehe, that's what I mean. if your belts spin, that doesn't mean anything, since the starter will spin the crank, and the crank will make the belts spin. YOU'll have to take off the oil cap and see if the cams are spinning or not!
if you think it is "siezed" get a 17mm socket and turn the crank bolt. depending on the rims you have you shouldn't even have to jack up the car... if you can't turn it then it's siezed if you can then you know it's not... does it make a grinding noise or just a kinna clicking noise when you try to start it? how do you know the starter is "spinning". (i've never heard it just spin before) good luck
