EK HID kit
is there any OEM HID kit that one could get for the EK's, without having to buy an aftermarket one, or doing any crazy conversions??? just wondering, i wouldnt see why the civics didnt have HIDs but everything else did???
This company offers one of your best options (not including a DIY retrofit) for OEM-quality HID lighting in a Civic.

yeah i have seen their stuff...i just dont like the projector look especially with that homemade wall they have on the lights.... does anyone know if honda civics from 96-00 were available in japan with HIDs????
ok so you they be retrofitted? i know they use the same stock bulbs in the USDM cars and only seem to be a different looking headlight. is it possible to get the JDM HID kit for a 2001+ and splice it into the existing wiring harness????
As with all OEM HID systems (USDM, JDM, etc.), the entire headlight assembly is unique to the HID-equipped cars, and it would not simply be a question of switching bulbs (since there are basically only 2 main types of HID capsules). This is the same concept that is found on the JDM ITR, which uses different housings for the HID and halogen headlights. Probably your best upgrade in terms of lighting quality would be to purchase a set of UKDM or JDM Civic headlights, which should have a better beam pattern than the USDM ones.

i have a set of the JDM ones...and personally unless one just had to have JDM stuff i think they are not worth nearly $600 shipped. only difference is they are a darker chrome (true Honda ones are not black on the 96-98...i know cause mine came from HONDA JAPAN before it became Honda Access) and there is no reflector cover on the actual bulb....they do shine brighter but not worth $600.
does anyone know where to get an HID set from the 2001+ civics. i am sure i could come up with a DIY for this conversion. plus i would feel much more comfortable doing it than just getting parts from a junkyard and making one work.

You can try to source on from Japan (expensive), but I see no reason why this would be an easier retrofit than any other OEM reflector-based HID system. In the end you will most likely end up with a better beam pattern by using a specific H4 HID kit (e.g. CATZ), unless you intend to custom-swap the entire reflector setup from the Civic.
