Question for Boosted Ownders! Does anyone else feel the same as me??
Ever since I got my Boosted Ek all I have done is worry. I have had the car for a year and have put on 2500 miles and have never once just taken it to get milk or something, or never went to a movie. I am almost insaine about leaving the car anywhere. I have heard so many stories and have first hand seen how it destroys my friends whos cars have been taken. Just wondering who else feels this way and what they do. Any ways to make your boosted car stand out less. I am really thinking about putting some stock wheels and hubcaps, taking off the spoiler, painting the intercooler black and hiding all the guages. it might look like poop but it will still be fast and I'll have some peice of mind. No body can ever just own something nice without some ***** comming along and ruining it for everyone. Just my .02
its just a paralyzing fear it sucks so much. There is nothing that makes me happier then driving the car and having the car people want but I do nothing but think about it while Im not in it and it makes me sick that I rarely drive it.

I know how you feel, people used to mess with my car before it was boosted. but i bought a house since i boosted it so i park in the garage now, and if i go anywhere it's only for a short time.....
I've never been a fan of all the attention grabbing stuff (chrome rims, body kits, spoilers, paint that stands out,etc....) my car for the most part looks like it's just lowered with rims. look a little closer you can see the guages and intercooler but you have to look to see them. but none of that matters because where i live everybody knows my car i've owned it for almost 6 years and it's looked the same the whole time (changed rims a few times) the only difference is the extra 160 hp under the hood
(over stock)

dude, buy a piece of mind with an alarm w/pager, and the club. with thieves, once they see the club they'll have a second thought. and if that doesn't deter them, once they see the blinking light, they'll think twice cause once the alarm goes off, they only have a certain amount of time to take off the club before someone wakes up. but then again, all your gauges and stuff maybe gone by the time someone wakes up. i've seen so many little punks walk by my car and look inside and what they see is the club and my alarm light. they look around and if no one is watching they give the car a kick to see if it's a real alarm and if it is, they run for it. i've seen this done to my car 3 times already. Hate them bastards!

Yeah I feel the same way, I mean I worry... I still got some decent rims and a kit of sorts. The reason I worry is because I don't have insurance, I guess you guys don't either?? If you do then whats the problem......

That's the problem for me, anyway.
There are 30 police cars in my backyard. Did I mention my doors are unlocked?
It's a beater, though. No one looks at it twice. The local community police resource center next door helps with the few "friends" who know what's up but might be less than honest.

Exactly on the Books My car is pushing probably close to 15 grand, to my insurance company with full coverage they'll cut me a check for like 4,500. The Fact of the mater is even if they don't take the car and all they do is smash a window before they realize they aren't getting it I'll be just as pissed that someone had to **** my **** up. Once I get a house or atleast a real garage I won't care but for now it blows! Kill em all.
that's why I have't turboed mine yet, gotta get a garage to put it in, then it's gonna be boost time. As well as talking out the alpine alarm and installing a two way alarm set up.
As for the insurance goes, if you have it talk to your agent. If you have all your recepits they will give you insurance based on what the car is worth. You have to pay a bit more, but it's worth it. As for no recepits, take it somewhere and have it appraised, then the agents will do the same. It's piece of mind, and then they will give you all the stuff back, or most of it anyway. Just my .02, hope it helps out or makes sense.
Also, if you live life in fear, why live life at all?

i drive my car everywhere. When i park i park it against the wall so the intercooler is hidden. I don't have any fancy guages on my a pillar nor does my car look really modified except for the black rota's and the exhaust. I'm still riding it 4x4 and unless i really open her up..the car sounds and drives like stock.
People that tend to "brag" about what they have often don't have their cars for very long...

I feel the same way. Try hiding the guages and paint your IC black, that should help ease your mind a bit, and if you can, get you turbo parts added to your insurance policy.
thats why i got digital boost & a/f gauges in a dual bezel.
They black out when the car is off.
Having window tint helps to, cuz then those fawkin theives can barely make out outlines of whats inside anyways.

people, for all of those who think they're safe just cause their car is parked in their garage...you're all wrong!! depending on where you live and if your garage is connected to your house, it's the best place for a thief to break into and take their time messing with your car!! My cousin's(it's a she) garage got broken into because some punks knew her car(95 GSR mildly modified) was always parked in the garage. once they broke into the garage, there wasn't anyone who could see what they were doing to call the cops. also, even with an alarm going off, it's really hard to hear because of the enclosed area. so just another heads up if you think your car is safe with a garage.
You shouldn't worry if you have insurance, an alarm, and some sort of club/autolock device. If your car gets stolen you can at least start on a new project.

What's the problem? Dude, I don't give a **** if i have insurance. NO ONE likes getting his/her car stolen! and my insurance company won't back me up for **** because they suck. and then there's the hassle of trying to find another car, worrying whether the police will find yours or not, etc. And if your car's stripped, you have to buy another car and spend time and more money building that up, and it takes years again because the car that got stolen also took forever to get to where it was. etc. etc. etc.

mine is just the way you see it on my avitar. i left it stock with a cluster bezel. Just don't put on any shiny rims and you should be fine. I had an lx with rims and it was stolen three months after i got it. just be careful about talking about it. that could get you in trouble
