What is vapor lock?
What is vapor lock, how is it caused, and what are the symptoms of vapor lock. According to my local honda technician this is what happened to my car this friday. I won't go into details as of yet because i want to see if any one describes the same symptoms that happened to my car, and if my mechanic was right or not. Personally i have never heard of this before. All i can say is it is not a good thing if this is what really happened. Thank you!
No. I know what hydro lock is and i saw it happen to my friends LS motor. I am talking about something to do with the fuel or fuel system called vapor lock.
vapor lock, is when the fuel atomizes from heat before it gets into the cylinders causing the car to die, it usually happens in carborated cars more than fuel injected
"vapour lock is when the heat of the engine vapourises the fuel in
the fuel line. this usually(?) happens after you turn the engine off and
stop the fuel flow. it doesn't seem likely to me to happen on a bike with
short fuel lines (i.e. straight down from tank to carbs). i used to get
the problem on an old car where the fuel line ran around 75% of the engine
before getting to the carb.
what i have had happen to me on a bike (and i've heard about often enough)
is vacuum lock (? for want of a better term) where a lack of air getting
into the tank eventually causes enough of a vacuum to stop fuel flowing
out the bottom. if you open the tank after you've stopped and you hear
an inrush of air this could indicate this problem. my long term solution
was to 'fix' the cap so that more air could get in. "

Thank you, that is closer to what i was looking for. That is pretty much what my mechanic told me. Could this hapen due to getting some bad fuel? Say fuel with water in it?

If you have water in your lines - use methyl hydrate. Usually water in the lines is not a big problem unless it's freezing outside.
If you have vapour lock try changing your gas cap to a new one.
