Crx.. Si.. Where to go for 600$!?!?
Whatsup I wanna go a little faster
right now everything is stock.. i have short ram intake and wires. I have about 600$ i am putting right towards the rex.. Is this possibly to get me some decent times??? w/out giving up reliability.. possibly high 14's?!!? at all!? maybe losing some weight but not much... let me know!! or send me in the right direction..

Save up about twice that much and go turbo... If forced induction isn't a route you want to travel, I'd suggest looking into engine swaps. I'd personally stay away from DOHC ZC's now, since all of the good ones are already in use...
But you have a big list to chose from, easiest swaps include:
B16A1
D16Z6 (or mini-me)
D16Y8 (or mini-me)
B18A
B18B
You have to know what you want first, and then do a lot of research to make sure you know what you're doing. If I could do it again, I might've gone with a B18B - but I really like how light my Z6/Y8 motor is. Not to mention, it looks very stock.

high 14s with $600=impossible IMO. Get your self basic bolt-ons to start off. You got a short ram so thats a start. But if I had your car ill get a cam, cam gear, and upgrade my valve springs and seals. Hopefully this helped you
-D16Y8 head gasket its thiner so it should give you more compression
-Used D16A1 pistons from 88-89 Intergra...more comp.
-SR909 Camshaft from http://www.exospeed.com
-adjustable cam gear

HF manifold 25
custom adapter plate =$$ depends on if you do it or someone else does.
turbo timer 100
and that will give you good daily power and reliability, if you have the DX the first switch i would highly recomend is the MPFI if you have the HF get an DX or SI engine cause they are 16 valve. If you have the SI disregard this. Use left over money on drag slicks & suspension or interior. what you need to do is decide what you want from your car. straight line perfom, handling or a lil of both. then theres always interior and body then gauges tires, the list goes on and on!
have fun!

Whoa talk about butting cornors! the LS can be had for cheap, where did you get the tranny and mounts axles? that right there is 500 easy unless you know a place where you can get dirt cheap parts?

Take it in steps:
Start with a good header and good cat-back exhaust, also a high flow cat or test pipe if you're not worried about smog. you need to be able to breathe for the other mods to work properly.
then do the cam and cam gear.
then do some port and polish work to the head and port match the intake, not a bad idea to get a Z6 or Y8 intake mani at this time.
then make your desision on NA or FI... with NA, you can get into the A1 pistons and Y8 headgasket to up the compression.
with the FI route, start saving up for the turbo, S.C., or nitrous.
either way 14's are possible with slicks, weight reduction, and a good driver.

Keep the d16a6. You can get the d16a1 pistons for cheap. There was a guy running an a6 with i/e/gsr tb/a1 pistons in a rex (with subs still in the car I believe)and pulled a 14.7. Go here

and there will be tons of info on building your motor. You can be real quick for pretty cheap.
