Default Solution to faded ABS black plastic parts, thanks to resource.crx.org guys...

I don't know if you can view the link to the resource without becoming a member. I'll post it up and I'll also explain what they did.

Anyway, what these guys at http://www.rpiracing.com (based in Florida) did, is they grabbed an old CRX bumper with all that crappy, faded-to-gray plastic on it, and decided to find a solution that would make it permanently black again, rather than just dying it for a small period of time with something like "Back to Black". Actually, if you read the article, they didn't really "set out" to find a solution, but came up with one anyway...

So the idea was to use a heat gun to slightly melt the plastic pieces, figuring that once it melted, it would turn back to it's original color. To make a long story short, they tried it on the bumper with a heat gun on "high" and it worked - made the plastic look super-black again, almost like new.

If you guys can't see the link and want me to put up the pics, let me know...I'll ask the guys that put them up if I can borrow them.

Alex
