18/19in rim size recommendation plz!
I was planning to put some 19in on the rear and 18in in the front of a 92-95 civic coupe. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the right size or max size to fit properly on this car as far as width, offset, etc. I also plan to lower the car as well, but maybe only like 2-3in in the front and 1.5-2.5in in the back...
Is it possible to put 19s on a civic? Thx ahead of time!
On another note, can some plz explain to me why the wheel cavity curvature on ANY car in the front is a lot bigger than the back? If u follow the curve of the wheel well/cavity from the outside, u will notice that the front is higher of the ground than the rear? I don't know if people notice this, but i do, and it bugs the hell outta me... can someone explain this to me? Are all the car designers drunk? I know the front wheel needs to turn and all but c'mon?!
Thx ahead of time... the question above is the reason when i plan to lower the front more than the rear... to make up for the bigger gap in the front...

It's useless to have a different size rim in the front than the rear. You'll mess up your suspension geometry doing so. I doubt you'll be able to lower your car that much in the front with 18's and with 19's you'll rub. I've seen 19's on a Civic and EVERYONE said they rubbed.
Why do you want two different sized rims?

I don't think 19s on a Civic will work without cutting the inner wheel wells. Not sure if you want to do that. I KNOW that if you put 18s and/or 19s on a Civic forget about dropping anything, in fact, you might need to raise it.
P.S. For asking this question, the H-T users will consider you a rice-boy. It sucks, I know it does, I've got 17s and I love it but to people on H-T, there's no need for such gigantic rims. It takes away from speed.

So they are too big?! Raising?! Ack! Haha... i want to lower, not raise...
I'm going for show, not speed... i guess 19s are better on an accord?
Can someone ANSWER my question about the wheel well height thing?

Weight of the wheel makes more of a difference. If you have 17in rims that weight 11lbs and you compare them to 15in rims that weigh 17lbs, the 15in rims take more away from performance. This is all provided the diameter of the rim/tire combo stays around the same.

I mean tthe weight. Of course lighter is better. Excuse me ..................
MYTH....

i have 17" oz superleggeras that weigh 15lbs, plus my tires are pound lighter than the 15" version, i like my 17's for street driving.
as far as 19's... not talking about the obvious... you will never be able to find a tire with a low enough profile, and you will not be able to lower your car. you will have rubberbands around those rims, they will be be bent to **** 10 minutes after you put them on.

Thx for all the info!... now can someone answer my wheel well/cavity thing?

why oh why would you do that, the car is not rear wheel drive.... it serves no purpose at all putting larger rims in the back than in the front , just get 17s or 18s front and back.... it will be better riding and less of a bitch and less expensive... maybe with the leftover money you could put it towards an air lift or hydraulics... YEEEAAAHHH

In my opinion, not trying to tell you to not put 18's or 19's on your car because it's your car, BUT, I think on an eg, the highest size you should go is 17 becuase anything more just doesn't look right on most eg's. Now on a 6th gen ek, I still think 18's or 19's are a little big, but they can usually get away with it more. But hey, anything can be done so if you want to slap 19's on an eg, I'm not stopping you, but it most likely won't look as good as you think it will.
actually to the thing about big rims are bad for performance, youll get better gas milage on the highway
haha but yeah i like 16s

Okay... okay... the 19/18s are out! Haha... jus wanted opinions...
Anyways, back to my question b4, maybe i didn't explain it well... but let me try...

Don't click on it, jus copy and paste in address bar...
This is a link to a very generic drawing about what i'm talking about, if u look at the picture, u will notice that the wheel well/cavity (whatever u want to call it) is a lot higher in the front than in the rear?! My picture is a little over-rated, but u get the idea...
I have drawn height marks in red for the front and the rear... can someone explain this to me? And if u think that the cavities are even, u are wrong, look closely at any car, even ur own and measure if u need to...
Can anyone explain? This is why i said car designers are drunk... it's of no relation to the rim size... thx alot!

Won't rub if he manages to find 19x7 (Doubt he will) and runs a 205/35/19 OR if he leaves it at stock height

If you do want to go ahead and do it, you'll have to take out the fender lining and be VERY careful about what shocks/springs you go with. Even when you do that, you'll still not be able to go though your full turning radius and you'll rub going over bumps and turning. It's really not worth the trouble just for loks, unless of course you don't plan to drive the car at all.
would 17's with 235/45 rub and could i put them on my 98 civic and not change the springs or shocks

copy and paste... the host is not letting me link it...
how about a 205/45/17 setup?
i don't want tires thinner than 45's i would prefer 50's and i don't really want to mess with my suspension
