Um, at least hyper white headlights will improve the light beam a little bit. I can't imagine that yellow ones would. And if they are as bright a yellow as those ion fog lights your talking about, they're probably pretty damn illegal. Get a good pair of PIAAs, or stay stock.
Hyper white headlights do NOT improve the light beam at all. They produce far less light and the light they do make diffuses terribly. Even those expensive PIAA Superwhites light the road less than OEM bulbs. Yellow lights are good for bad weather because light in the yellow part of the spectrum doesn't cause glare. Normal color halogen lights make the most light in regular circumstances (HID lights are another story, but they make more light because of the intensity of the bulb, not the color). France used to use yellow headlights, but they have switched back to white. Generally speaking, yellow is used for fog lights only because those are the lights you use in... fog!
