ok here is the deal, im driving about 30mph and i try to shift and it wont go in to gear any gear, so i pull over and turn off my car it goes into gear i put the car in second gear and turn the car on with the clutch down to the floor and the car starts to go so my assumption is my act clutch gave out i ahve the extreame with street disc and guess what i have a vortech so the sc has to come out to pull the tranny so my debate is fix the clutch and drive it and keep doing mods to it or fix it then sell the honda and stay away from hondas forever (i used to love hondas but im off the band wagon im thinking about getting a toyota) so what should i do and is there any easy way of going about fixing this problem with out having to disconnect the whole vortech???


i say the act sucks cause ive only had it for maybe 3 mos..

 

I have a act clutch, and i had one in my dsm too.It probably isint the clutch itself. The extreme pressure plate has a rediculious clamping force compared to stock, so all of that extra force is transfered throughout the clutch system and back to your foot.Tha clutch beats up the hydraulic system in most hydraulic cluch applications, it is a very good clutch though.You probably have a bad clutch slave cylinder(on the tranny) or a leak somewhere in the system.Check that before you start pulling off all kinds of parts. pm me if you want any help chris

yeah, it probably isn't your clutch, xt/ss is one of the best for forced induction imo... but im stuck with a shitty exedy right now which im having many problems also.. but i think there just might be a few bad pieces in every company and you and i got em.. ...but let me know what the problem turns out to be, i can't wait to get an ACT clutch put in.. good luck

Damnit Sol. Don't tell me I'm going to have to do a clutch in your car too now! J/K. Derek told me what happened last night. I'll come over and help you out. That clutch is a great setup, as you know I have had three different act setups and absolutely love them. Sounds like the slave is bad, but if not it could be the forks on the pressure plate or the master cylinder. Give me a call and I'll come over and check it out. Oh and by the way, I got the Hatch running---for good!

 

same thing happened to me. I also have a act xtss, but it was the clutch master cylinder that was leaking. It is a good idea to change both the slave and MC and the same time to save u from future problems.

BTW the act setup is great the clutch grabs nice and hard. Now if only I had some boost to go with it.

 

ok the probelm wanst the driver it was the clutch the spring in the pressure plate broke and they wont fix it. so iam forced to do my business else where oh also minimal wear on the pp and clutch, the pp would not disenguage so that was the cause of the problem...

 

I've had an ACT Xtreme P.P with hybrid-lined street disc for over 3 years now and it still grabs hard enough for a stock 143whp B16A to bark 195-50-15 Michelin Pilot SX/GT tires in 2nd and 3rd gear.

 

I sell ACT and used them a few times.....greeat clutches. Hard to break them.

 

ok well how about pushing 250whp and see how long it will last i have a few other friends and they both also bent the fingers on the pp or the sping broke on the pp so i no longer will use act...

 

I know a few people pushing more power then that and they drive hard everyday....clutch still grabs strong after more then a year of abuse.

Plus if Tom can't break it then its pretty much bullet proof

You have that title because you acted like an idiot, and it seems as though you have not yet changed your ways.

Clutch Masters clutches suck ****. I have seen them consistently break springs out of their discs before the lining has even begun to wear, and I work at a shop and I've seen ythis NUMEROUS times, not just once like you.

I don't sell ACT. I sell ClutchNet and own a Clutchnet in my B18C5 hatchback and have the 3 year old ACT in my B16A2 hatchback.

I'd recommend ClutchNet to anyone who cares not about pedaL feel or their flywheel and/or tranny internals because it's a very unforgiving clutch if you drive hard.

ACT is the best streetable clutch IMO for decent mods, but you're making 240whp so get a race clutch.

Lastly what qualifies you to tell us to buy Clutchmasters or Action anyways?

Most people don't even know I'm selling ACT clutches...it just a local thing really.

I run a Exedy clutch in my car...I got one for cheap and its works great.

I wouldn't reccomend something I wouldn't use (My wife had a ACT in her civic and I've gotten ACT's for all of my friends).

If your implying that I'd blatantly lie about a product and its reliabilty to sell something then you really don't know me.....
