Need help, for the love of god help
I bought an MSD map sensor for my 99 TEG (3 BAR). But now my mechanic tells me that i need a "harness" from my map sensor to my car. WTF? No one knows what the hell im talking about. I don't have a part #. Im not sure if GM has what i need and if so once again i don't have a part #. This stupid harness is holding up my entire project. If my mechanic was wrong please let me know that too. If anyone out there can help me (which i know probably about a thousand of you can), please help a brother out. I did a search but found nothing except someone refering to something called a pigtail. Save me from my self please.

You need the male connecter , then you splice the corresponding wires (3 wires total) and attach them to the male connector.
This male connecter is a gm connecter that can be found at any parts store for about $1.35. It's a 3 prong connector. I'll post a pic of it later.
You take the 3 wires of your stock map and put them in the corresponding spot on the male connecter.

GM isn't much help. Do you happen to know a part number for that piece. With out a # my local dealership wont even waste their "precious time" with me. Thanx for the help so far.
If anyone has one of these or know who makes it or has a part # i would kiss their feet. I called some places here in canada and they have no idea still what im talking about, they just give me that " are u stupid look". Preferably the manufactur and part number if possible. Thanx again.
This is what ive found out....#12085502...it has five leads plus the male connecting part. Does this sound right? They also want $45.45 at GM for it. WTF?...i think i need to cross the border and pick one up at pep boys. But regarless, if this is right let me know.

thats the correct part number according to this document from horsepowerfreaks.com. It will still have to be modified to fit the map sensor correctly. this just means cutting a slit in one of the prongs of the connector so that it will physically fit into the female plug on the sensor.
and the cost is 14.38 from gmpartsdirect.com. it lists for 28.76

Thanx for all the help guys. Conduct Tite #85146 isn't available up here, at least at any part stores so far, that i can find. Is that the correct manufactur?
You guys crack me up!!! Tell you what. Do it this way. Stop worring about part #'s and manufacturer and senceless **** like that. Take the picture in the post above and print it out. Then take that paper with you to an auto parts store. The same place you'd go to buy spark plugs or oil or whatever. (Yeah, the place you go when you priced the part from the dealership and it was WAY too expensive so you decide to go here instead.) Then go to the electrical isle and look for something that looks like the picture. (Hell, take the map sensor with you and if you find something like the pic take it out and try plugging it into the sensor.) If you can't find anything that looks like the picture then go somewhere else and repeat the procedure. WARNING, do not talk to the counter people, they are dumbasses and you'll just confuse them further.
If you flat out can't find it, then cross the border because apperently Canada is the place you don't want to get stranded with a broken down car and hope you can find parts at the part store to get you home.
Sorry for some of the sarcasm, but I couldn't stand it... hehe
I hope this helps man, I found my connector at the parts store. It's not a specialty item... everyone should have it.

Any local automotive parts store will have that connecter in stock and on the shelf. It's a basic item and any auto store should carry them.
Take the map sensor with you to the store and then try to find the right plug. It's not hard to find it. Goto the electrical section and look for plugs and connectors.
If you still have a problem finding it then shoot me an email and I'll send one to you.

You might be surprised. They're all over the net, but I've never seen one in O'Reillys or Autozone. Never go to Pep Boys but they probably have a bigger selection.
what is the correct way to install a 2 or 3 bar map sensor? ive heard to run it inline with another vacuum source...but ive also heard other ways...
anyone have pictures of theirs installed?
TIA
