what options do I have with filling in the wholes on the trunk? Besides plugs and taking it to a shop.

to my knowledge those are the only ways, you could always put a different emblem on... hehe

I used a hair-dryer to get my emblem come off. For not too long... maybe a minute or less. Then I pryed with my finger and it came off. Used bug and tar remover to get off scum and glue behind the emblem.

Yes there are holes behind the "ACURA" emblem. I have a 99. The Center piece, front and rear emblem has holes behind them as well.

Some people use dental floss to separate the foamy tape from the body and the emblem should pop right out. It's safer than prying it off with something.

Make sure its not the waxy kind either, that floss will jus break, you gotta use the Johnsons & Johnsons dental floss. I also left mine sitting in the sun for a little to ease the job then finished it off with some goo gone
