i don't know but lately i noticed that real jspec cars have full kits and flares. and everyone in HT is anti-kit. are we behind in trend? seems like we are little. i think people should stop being "JDM because its JDM" one perfect example is the old skool Crx mugen rims. man those things are ugly. but i heard people saying they were kool because they were jdm. personaly i think people should stop worrying about it being jdm. just go with what you like. i can honestly say that my friend has a full kit and hes car look really nice pretty rare. so peeps do what you like!

 

Its just an inherent adolecent need to be 'cool' or belong. Take a look at fashion, albeit divided a bit between ethnicities (brightly colored 'fubu' crap to fratboy abercrombie images) its generally the same crap that follows the ebb and flow of fickle little kids. The same kids who made fun of someones gay shoes will grow up and make fun of someones gay car, its life. Just shoot them the proverbial bird and be on your way and go eat a waffle.

I bought the MUgen MR5s (or the 'oldskool crx rims as you call them)
Why?? yes because they are Mugen ...does that bother you? I got a good deal on them and I know they are top quality parts. I have wasted enough money in the past on shitty quality stuff whether it be cars, music instruments, snowboards, etc. Yes they are not the best looking rim, I will admit. But the are DIFFERENT and I like the fact that only people who really know their **** will realise their value and uniqueness.
As far as the "jdm trend" goes, I just think 95% of the time jdm stuff looks more subtle and tasteful, and I know its good quality.
Once again, to each his own .....**** my waffles are burnin

That's so true, if anyone who hates kits is in here, you're not JDM, almost ALL true JDM cars that are featured, that are seen in drifting videos, and basically on the street are fully kitted, flared, 19" big boiy rollin rides that are fast as hell. Me personally, I want the JDM Type R front but w/ a Cwest kit, it looks very clean together and brings out the body lines VERY nicely.

 

I may be wrong, but from what i've seen in the Japanese culture they like big, flashy, dramatic stuff. The bodykits are just a way of making their cars more flashy. All their cars are JDM so its not like they are going to want to modify them to look USDM, right. Also they are going to eventually get bored with there cars and want to change the body in some degree or another. So bodykits just are perfect for what they need. A change to their car that is also big and flashy.

Personaly i dont care for big body kits and alot lf flare! But most of the time i wont go putting people down if they have them on! Now if you have a huge wing on the back ! jeez ! I think people should do what they want! Even if other people dont like it. its you car you choose.

if you want a body kit ...and wanna talk about it ..then go to team-integra.net ..they openly accept rice ....

I completely agree with this. This is our hobby, and it should reflect what we are like. I saw a typer the other day on advan rg's and a JDM conversion and gave him props because it was nice as hell, by the same token, there was another guy with a 4dr integra, a custom mixed dark green and a CL conversion, dumped on some 17's but he had some of the cleanest body work I had seen to date. I sure as hell gave him props too, because he did what he wanted to and took no shortcuts and had a professional quality finish to the car, and basically it was what HE wanted it to be.

some of you JDM bashers are just as lame as the JDM bandwagon people. you only know "JDM" as it is known today and not how "JDM in the states" started. back in the day when JDM wasnt a coined term tossed around like those lumpy waffles of yours. back then, JDM over here in the states was about trying to make our cars look like theirs. and back then, people in Japan were trying to make theirs look like ours. we slapped on H badges on integras while they slapped "A" badges on their integras and civics. we put on clear corner lights back then because thats what they had. they put on half clear/half amber corners on their integras and civics because thats what we had. we put on their factory accessory lips because it fit perfect all the time and was subtle but just enough to notice something looked different from another civic/integra off the American honda showroom floor. we fell in love with the JDM ITR front end in 96 and they fell in love with that ****** *** Andy's cali-type-r kit.

and these flared out, fully kitted, 19" blingin cars arent hondas. try doing all that on a honda 4banger and still say "and theyre ******* fast too". besides, even still, they have their "own" equivalent of what we call "rice" here. so what. and i have yet to see a US-based body kit company design a full kit of their own ideas and pull it off as clean as the ones in Japan. almost every body kit in the states is a direct knockoff from a japanese counterpart.

if you hate the look of what a "JDM" car is, you better know what the **** "JDM" means to begin with and not just the literal acronym for it. ******* new school kids these days
