Default Anyone running an electric water pump?

Anyone here running an electric water pump? If so...what kind, and how much more efficiently does it cool the motor, etc.

If the archived search ever returns there was a long post in the integra forum by some people that were running them. They were having problems as I recall. They had to drill holes in their thermostats for some reason... that's all I remember. Sorry

did you drill holes in the thermostat? or pt a restrictor plate in there? Have any problems with burning out the motor of the pump?

I run one in my racecar. Cools great, no thermostat tho, car has to warm up for a while, i dont know how efficient it is on a streetcar since mines only driven about 20 minutes a month

you would have to leave the stock one on there right... due to timing belt length.. what would the point be...

The electric pumps i've seen that were honda specific usually come with a dummy plate that takes place of the stock pump, which has a gear on it.
From what i 've heard, they actually cool too well for street cars.

yes, the stock pump is removed, and a dummy plate is put in its place. The car runs REAL cool with it, streetcar or whatever the application

EDIT: Keep in mind, the dummy plate that is on the timing belt will put less strain on the belt, freeing up some extra power.

What about the thermostat? Is it required to take it out, or should holes be drilled (and if so how big, etc.)?
