Explain the symtoms of bearing knock/ spun bearing...
What exactly happens when you spin a bearing. Is it like... boom it's spun... a short time later... boom your engine is gone? Or is it something that can go on for a long time. I am hearing a little bit of a knock/tap. I don't think I'm hearing valve tap because I adjusted them <3000 miles ago. It has been making this noise since I got it 8 months ago.... but lately it's been bothering me because i've been reading about people having spun bearings. I also have a weird tapping/vibrating noise before the car is completely warmed up. That noise sounds like it's on the left side of my valve cover by the distributor. (I already replaced the distributor... that wasn't it) I'm paranoid about every little thing so I just want to hear some input from you guys. Could I have a spun bearing for that long? Could the kncok be a bearing in like the alternater or water pump or something like that? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

i was in an ls/vtec and it spun a bearing. my friends had to put the pedal to the floor to go about 30-50 miles per hour and it wouldnt go at all with some other gys in it
if its been 8 months you dont have a spun bearing, you will know..trust me...i spun one in my old h23..and it was a distinct knocking coming from the block...and it before i could get the car home it seized and destroyed the motor, you will also notice a large drop in power...sounds like something else is making your noise...peace
