no, most solo II organizations will not ask for SA, so M helmets will do fine. helmets range in price the same with everything else, but expect to spend at least $200 for a closed face. im using a bell sport II and i like it fine, but the ventilation kinda sucks...

honestly, I don't know the differences between the two. Both are SA2000 and they look exactly the same. I tried to look on the BELL site (www.bellracing.com) but only the Sport 2 is listed.
edit: upon looking at another official BELL site, it seems like they are in fact very similar. at http://www.thebellstore.com/Auto/hlmtftrs.html#racer the specs for the Sport 2 and 3 are listed together as if they were the same helmet. And once again only the Sport 2 is officially recognized.
