here's the scoop. my friend has a 99 accord with the 2.3 sohc vtec. he just purchased an h22a to put into his car. my question is- how hard would it be to replace my worn out 1.5 with his motor?? anybody ever done or seen this swap done before??? any help would be greatly appreciated. oh yeah by the way the reason i'm considerring this swap is because he's gonna sell me the motor for super cheap(the cost of a header and intake for his h22a). thanks alot.

you can do it, why would you want to though?

Its not worth the trouble. If youre looking for something cheap do a ZC swap or an LS swap.

 

the accord motor leans backword. The civic motor leans forward. NONE of the mounts will even come close to working, the accord motor is taller.. Its not a good swap.
Infact, try taking out you largest moeler, then remove one of your front teeth. Insert the bloody moeler into the socket that your front tooth came out of. Not fitting? get a hammer. No really, its worth it, the performance you gain from having a larger tooth upfront in bitting will make it worthwile..

not trying to be an ***, but this is the equivilant of the swap you are talking about doing. And trust me, if you try this swap, you will be soo stressed that you will wish that you were having all of your dental work being done by Dr. TIMMAYY!! and his dremal tool instead.

The Lude motor also leans backwards. And it's bigger than the Civic's as well. But they're dropped into Civics all the time. So why can't the Accord's motor fit?

And as far as worth, I'd say 150 hp and 152 lb-ft torque is possibly worth the trouble of fabrication. If you can get the whole swap for say $500, I say go for it.

 

i agree with jay. for the cost you guys really think i could go wrong?? i mean with few mods i should easily run with si's and such. i even plan on going turbo. and like he said people out lude motors in the civic's all the time. i appreciate all your guys opinions though. keep them coming. thanks alot.

damn im not sure if i have an opinion but seein as how im finding it nearly impossible to find a motor for myself..... either keep what you have or take what you can get .... that being the accord motor... although i think everyones right in saying that its not worth the effort

 

the cost of the mount kit, custom work, and suspension work that would have to be done would be far more than the price of an ls motor.

HI, I know this is my first post and all, but, for the torque numbers, the swap might be worth it, but the aftermarket parts arnt as available either. But, for the swap, place racing or HASport has a mount kit for a few hundred. Like everyone else said, it does lean backwords though, and due to the weight you would have more understeer, as well as less braking power. If you could get it cheap though, I might due it, but would rather spend money on a b16a.

 

Seems like you're already set on using this engine, which probably means one of 2 things:

1. you're damn good with your welder and bf hammer
2. you have no idea what you're getting yourself into

Do yourself a favor and listen to the advice from people who have actually done swaps. Think about it, if it were easy, cheap, and made power we'de all be running around with accord engines instead of gsr's!
