Default Reseting the Computer

Hey whats going on guys. I'm a newbie here and I just got my 95 4th Gen Prelude VTEC after my 99 Civic Si got stolen and stripped .

Well the question I got is that I heard something about resetting the computer after mods, like after you put the intake for example there is something you do to reset your computer so it adjusts to the new mod.

All I remember is that after you do something (which I do not remembeer...may be unplugging the batter wire?) you just let it idle for about 5 minutes or so and it would adjust...

You guys got any idea how that works?
