Any drawbacks to advancing the stock timeing. I am leaving my car fairly stock when off the nitrous bottle (timing will be retarded when on the bottle), but I was thinking about having slightly advanced timing for around town driving. Good idea? Any drawbacks? Safe? Noticeable power increase?

What do most people advance their timing to?

Thanks,
jon

I might be mistaken, but I beleive you don't want to advance the timing to more than 18 degrees on a stock R.

Yes...There are no real mojor gains with timing, as long as you arent knocking. To advance timing far enough to gain any real power you would have to run higher octane gas than is availble at most stations.

Stock is 16 deg. +/- 2 deg. I run 18 to be safe and I dont need to run hotter gas.
