I know the collector is either 1.9" or 2." When I took an actually ruler to mine it was about 2." It is really tiny.

I'm thinking of buying one and doing a 2.5inch collector swap on it then getting the resto of a 2.5inch custom made... hope this will net me some decent gains...

The I.D. (internal diameter) of the collector is 2.0'' exactly. This is fact.

right. it HAS to be 2.0 to be considered a 'bolt on'. if it were 2.25 or 2.5, then it would not bolt on to the stock cat.

Hmm I feel guilty about Hacking my Greddy Header but I think I'm gonna make a 2.5" downpipe as well to go with my test pipe what should I do it in Stainless? But I'll have to weld in a bung for the O2 sensor right?

Well i dont know what was up with my Greddy header because i had to have a custom cat connected anyways because the header connecters were to big for my stock cat...

fair enough...SMSP is really nice but I'm talking about a whole different price range....greddy is like half the price... I'm really looking for somthing better than my DC.

Well, just to let you know, i had the DC before i got my Greddy and my butt dyno (haven't finished everything so i can take it and get it tuned) can tell the difference. I have a pic someplace, that i took, of the size difference that you can tell the Greddy is bigger for sure. I will post if if i can find it.

edit: i cant spell today

I just had my greddy header modded at Import Builders. They hacked off the collector and flex pipe and welded on a 2.5" pipe. I was about to cry as I watched Jerry hack the downpipe up on my BRAND NEW header.

If you eliminate the flex pipe make sure that they get the angle on the collector right cuz I had to have mine modified again by the muffler shop for it reach my cat.

As far as the gains, I don't really know how much an improvement it is over the stock greddy collector cuz I didn't put the header on til after I modified the collector, but it does pull alot better up top over my stock manifold. Im gonna redyno my car and see how much just the header w/ modded collector helped.

Yeah I have engine mounts, I don't really need the flex pipe or any sort of joint do I?

Jerry at Import Builders made the end of my collector so that it used a donut gasket. He told me to have the muffler shop flare the end of the pipe coming off the cat so that it goes around the donut gasket and to use a flange that wasn't welded on w/ spring loaded bolts, just like stock exhaust manifold and cats have. He said it would be fine. I followed his instructions. I noticed more vibration though coming from the exhaust since I don't have a flex pipe. My motor is in a civic though w/ a mount kit, so I have alot of vibration from the motor to begin with.

bump

hey guys i just ordered a greddy header. I have decided to put a 2.5 collector on the end instead of installing it and deciding to do it later. I am going to go with a 2.5 hi flow cat and 2.5 piping all the way back, probably mated to an N1.

Import builders will do this service? Is this something I could have an exhaust/welding place do locally (it would save me a lot of trouble)? How much did this run you to get it done? Would you do it again?

any help appreciated, thx.
