Default tial wastegate gasket blown?

Does anyone know what type of sound it would make if it was leaking? because I didnt notice the sound till last night, it only occurs when I apply the gas not that loud but enough to hear it pretty good, at steady cruise speed there is no sound only when there is a load on the engine. It sounds like a tpst--tpst--tpst--tpst kinda of hard type it. At first I though it was my valves but if I rev at idle there is no sound either, engine idles fine runs fine also, I did a compression check and it was good all across the board, it builds boost fine also but I thought if there was a leak it would take longer to build boost unless the leak is small. Just wondering if anyone had it blow on them before and what type of sound it made, just to make sure.

well good thing i installed mine knowing taht most people on honda-tech say they blow and out to not even bother and use no gasket, i'll sell you 2 gaskets for $12 shipped, one is cut in half to fit around the valve seat ring but still usable, both unused, but just try and use no gasket, the barbon build up would probably seal it i would think

yea I'm hoping its just the exhaust leaking out making that sound, I will try and run with no gasket and see if the sound goes away.

It sounds like a small exhaust leak (because thats what it is). checking the gasket takes a matter of seconds (i actually removed mine the other night because once again it went south) it took about 3 min to remove the wg and put it back on. Thats a hell of a alot easier and quicker then doing a compression test..

only problem with that is most high temp silicon is only good up to about 600 degrees.Your better off runing no gasket then runing silicon

I just had the same problem, gasket blew after 1 week, the stock tial gaskets suck!! Use a fire ring or just run no gasket at all.

Tial wg gaskets blow...my brothers blew in like a day on his 240sx. We just make one out of a real thin sheet of plyable aluminum.....been working for about 1 and 1/2 months now.

I had no problems running without gasket if you don't mind a little carbon buildup from pinhole leaks.

Firering gasket works great in my opinion. If you put it on right and torque down properly, they should not blow. ran mine at 16psi without any issues

I blew my tial gasket as well, I tried running without any gasket, but the Maxrev manfiold isn't perfectly flat, so I was still leaking. I ordered a Firering from RoadRace, got it in on Thursday. Works well with no leaks now.

Im having the same problem. My gasket blew and I did start to have boost creep problems. Im not sure if that is the reason its creeping or not, thats the only thing I can think of that could be making it do that though.

The reason that this question arises so much is because the seating area between the maifold and the wastegate is not flush. and little tiny crevice that this hot gas can creep through will burn a hole. Either the casting is crappy or the flange that was welded on got warped in fabrication.
