Default CRX 87 SI ??

Ok, so I drive to DisneyLand yesterday and on the way up to Anaheim I see atleast 8 or 9 Riced out CRX 2nd Generation. Now dont get me wrong I think the 88-91 2nd Gen CRX's are nice but I think my trip to Anahiem changed my mind about wanting to get one. With that in mind I'll lead into my question, besides that some people think first gen Crx's are ugly is their any other reason not to fix up an 87 SI to look good and still burn people at stop lights? Will all the popular 2nd Gen CRX engine swaps fit? and I know that 88-91 CRX's have a hugh arsenal of aftermarket parts and kits available but that will just make it more unique of a ride.

I've seen some people racing 1st Gen CRX's so some swaps and parts must be out there. Is there anyone out there with a souped up 1st Gen CRX with any tips or knowledge on what things can be done to it, and maybe your 1/4 and 0-60 times if you have them?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Disgrunteled CRX 'er

crex on this board is the king of 1st gen CRXs, so I'd IM him if you want better info...

Since they're a little different engine-wise, not all the 2nd gen swaps will fit as easily. However, you can still get a B16A mount kit from HASport which should hook you up pretty nicely.

Sorry for the confusion , I have a 87 CRX SI already, but up untill now I was planing on selling and getting 2nd Gen but now i'd rather stay with 1st Gen, just havent seen hardly any Mod's or Bolt on's or anything.

I guess it's a matter of personal taste, but I like the first gens specially the recessed headlights of the '84s and '85s. I have an '84 DX which I have swapped in an '87 teg motor and gearbox; externally, I've grafted on the front and rear bumper covers of an '87 Si, but still retaining the recessed 4X6 headlights which makes it look like the '86-'87 CRX 1.6i-16s in England.

So, I am the king huh? Well thanks for the gesture. There are alot of options you have for our car. I personally have a Ahem stock(yeah right) 1985 Crx Si. I also have a 1985 Civic 1500S(I)(Hybrid) And had an 87 Rex Si. There are alot of good parts you can put in the car. The only downfall is the out dated suspension and lack of parts. But for me due to the time I have put in I have found alot of places to find parts and Info. The 3 most common things is to swap is the Engine, tranny and Ecu from an 86-87 Integra. This will make a really nice swap. Also if you get the whole teg for the swap, you can get the rear disk brakes and swap them in as well. For the swap you will need Engine, tranny, axles, harness is optional, but you will have to modify (lengthan some conectors) to make it fit right. You will also need the front spindles. So...a parts car is cheaper, and easier to get than finding the parts from a boneyard. I have alot of literature on theese older cars, and seeing as you are SI, I can help you alot. most have the carb version (DX,HF) and it is way harder to swap with those cars.
Here are a few sites to check out... http://www.rivergate5speed.com http://www.ground-control.com http://www.nopi.com http://www.opmmotorsports.com
Theese are just a few, but If you IM me and let me know what you are looking for I will tell you more. Here is what I have done to my car.....
**catches breath**
modified block
custom poured block gaurd
modified stock .40 over pistons
fully ported and polished head
260cc injectors (stock is 180-190)
bored fuel rail
4" throttle body on custom 4" chrom intake manifold
AEM short ram
86 Teg ecu
custom solid motor mounts
Header with 2" straightpipe running a dual outlet afterburner muffler
lowered 1/1/2" all around
modified rear springs
KYB GR-2 shocks all around
front struts combat lowered for increased travel
modified rear florr (cut out spare tire well and made it flat)
4 infinty kappa 5x8's, 2 10" kicker subs, clarion 4" 2 ways in the doors, and a JVC deck let me tell you....VERY F-ING LOUD!!!!
The list goes on. I know of more mods just dont have the time to get to them. If you e-mail me I can send you some literature chevrace@hotmail.com
