Default Brake Pad Question

I'm replacing my stock pads with Hawk Blues. Should I just replace the front pads or should I replace both front and rear? I'm taking the R to Summit Pt. next week.

Those are reportedly the best pads you can buy... at the expense of your rotors though.

I would run those at the track, then switch back to a less aggressive for the street.

People have reported very short rotor life with those pads...

Thats my plan ... just wasn't sure if I should replace the front pads or both front & rear.

Not only at the expense of your rotors but your rims as well!. If you don't clean the brake dust off your rims right after the track, they WILL be stained! (especially if you have CW ITR rims)

I use hawk blues in the front - they work great (DO NOT CHANGE THEM UNTIL YOU ARE ON THE TRACK - they need to be HOT or they will eat your rotors until they reach their operating temperature).

I use Porterfield R4s in the back so I don't have to change them (leave them on year round). I wouldn't put hawk blues there since the rear brakes are not that used and it too inconvenient to change them. Stock would probably be fine in the back since my Porterfield have lasted 10 events or so...

P.S. You can get Brembo rotors for the R at summitracing.com (they are under the distributor VGX) for $39 a piece. That's cheap so I replace them once a year. (about 6-8 track events)
