My tranny will not go in..HELPPPPP
Hey guys...i changed my stock clutch to a stage three clutcmasters....i put on the new clutch and pressure plate with alignment tool...now...for some reason i can't get the tranny to go all the way in...i can get the top portion of the housing to flesh with the block but not the lower portion...its too far apart...its like something is stopping the tranny to go in...i don't know if the splin is not going into the clutch correctly...if its not how can i fix it or what else can it be...i am lost...oh and by the way my engine is still in the car...i am going this alone with a jack...lol..HELPPPPPPPPPPP
You can pull the clutch off and see if the disc will slide onto the input shaft on the transmission. If it does, it is just a matter of getting the input shaft to slide into the clutch when it is on the engine. Put a very light coat of grease on the input shaft to ease installation. If you are doing it yourself on the ground, you are going to have a fight on your hands even if the clutch is lined up properly. Try and install the transmission as straight as possible and wiggle it gently up and down and side to side. Good luck.
if you didn't test fit the clutch disk before installing the tranny, i would say that that's the reason why it won't go in! also try putting some lube on the input shaft(mainshaft). but before doing that, check that you're not getting hung up by the dowel pins on the tranny case!
i had the same problem. took a couple hours to get it lined up right.
Basically if the top is in further in than the bottom, then you are putting it on crooked and the dowel pins? (i think thats what they're called) wont line up either. You want to get all side as even as possible in distance, then you can thread a couple bolts in and it will "pull" the tranny to the engine. hth

Ok guys....what I will do is take the clutch off and put it on the splin and make markings on the housing of the tranny accordingly with the flywheel so I have a perfect match to put it in...then I guess its all muscle from there...i will let ya know how it turns out....
It shouldn't take tremendous force. Are the dowel pins dinged up? They're a tight fit so it doesn't take much for them to give you trouble.

make sure the inner race on the pilot bearing is the same on the input shaft as we.. it shouldnt take any excessive effort to put it in.
Guys...I finally got my tranny in...this was the problem....i took the clutch and pressure plate off...i test fit the new clutch and it would not fit..it would only fit the wrong way...so i looked at the teeth and i had damaged the teeth on the clutch with the dowel....so i took the clutch and filed down the damaged areas with a filer and tried to mount the tranny again and it went in fine.....so everything is good now...all i have to do is finish my turbo setup which is installing the blue box and boost controller...thanks a million guys
