GSR shuts off sometimes...MSD ? Fuel Pump ? ICM ?
Ok, here's the low down:
Freshly re-built block, new oil pump, water, belts.
The car had not been run by me until the rebuild was done... the car came with a cigarette lighter kill switch hooked to the fuel pump
1) The kill switch would sometimes cause problems and pop out... so the car would shut off.
2) I have a B&M FPR, with no gauge yet.
The car today was in traffic and just died. (Tach hit 0rpm) I cranked it over and over and it did not start. Pulled off the road, after 15mins of cranking, waiting, etc, the car finally started. I drove 2 miles to a shop, where it shut off again !!
Turns out...the shop was closed, so I rolled into a parking spot and busted out my tools. I ended up bypassing the sheety lighter kill switch and just butt connected the 2 wires. But the car still wouldn't start, so I figured the plugs may be fouled.
I pulled the plugs, sure enuff, wet. I let them to dry and open air'd the cylinders. After 20 mins, I reinstalled em, and the car started up fine !!
I drive about 5-7 miles to my house, and in traffic, the car shut down again ! I grabbed the connected wires to check, they were still together... I turned her over (EEng, EEng, EEEng... horrible metal sound....) a couple times, then finally it started. (once running it goes fine) At the next light, the rpm drops from the usual 800 to 600, then almost 400, then it dies !! I thought the crappy wires on the kill switch was the culprit, but maybe not ?
The car is a 94 gsr, has a brand new fuel filter, B&M top hat, stock injectors, stock fuel pump, brand new MSD 6A, MSD Pro Cap, Blaster 3 coil, all new... the plug wires are old tho.
Other than this problem, when running the car seems to have no problems.
HELP!!!???

Ok, after butt connecting the wires that were behind the center console. I got home and traced the 'aftermarket' wire loom to the PGM-FI relay next to the fuse box.
The wires were spade connected to a splice in the stock wiring for the relay (brown/striped wire). The spades have a burnt look to them tho, so I will assume that's the problem for now. But why does the problem seem to be intermittent ? and seem to occur while idling (mostly).
Will delve more into it tomorrow...
