Default Help: Have to clutch down several times to get in gear.

Hello all,

I am new to the Type-r world and my car is giving me a bit of a problem. Sometimes when i come to a dead stop I can't get into gear (any gear); I have to press the clutch several times and only then can i get into gear (with hesitation). Also, if I turn the car off and try to shift into gear, there are no problems at all. Could you all please throw some light on this.

Cheers,

canadaitr

flush the clutch fluid
otherwise you may be in need of a new clutch.

how high does the clutch engage/disengage? do you have to press it all the way in to shift or can you press it halfway and shift?

Getting into 1st is a perennial problem for a lot of people - usually will go "in" if you let the car roll forward or backward a bit (with the clutch pedal depressed).

Otherwise what SGT said.

When it wants to go in, I can get it into gear even with the clutch only halfway down.

Agreed. Had the same problem in our Civic, that was the only symptom - no slip, not engaging funny. New clutch made it like new again.
