please tell me i'll be ok if i just get springs and no shocks!!!
currently i dont have the money to do a complete suspension set-up i want, but i want to atleast get my car lowered. will it be ok if i run aftermarket springs but stock shocks?? will there be a chance im gonna really mess up my suspension if i do this?? anyone running on aftermarket springs and stock shocks?? thnx..
I did it but it lasted for about 4 months on a 2.25 drop from newspeed. Just wait and get it all at once. Taking off the suspension twice sucks and you'll have to get an alignment if you take the springs off to put the new shocks on!!
you can but your stock shocks will wear out much quicker and the ride quality is not nearly as good. just wait, or order the springs and then wait till you get the money for shocks that way you dont spend it on other ****. Thats what i did.
ok, i have the same year lude as you and i have a 2.5 drop. I have had it dropped since 97 and i have not had any problems with the stock shocks. If you dont have the money to get new shocks then i say from experiece with my lude that you should be able to go for quite a while and be ok. I always planed on getting new shock when these went out but now its been 6 years and still going strong
the more you lower your car the more problems you will encounter and more money will be spent
2"+ = your going to need a front camber kit or be expecting to buy new tires often, also your ride quality will deteriate within a few months
if plan on lowering your car more than 2" you should get new shocks and at least a camber kit
anything less then 2" should be ok for a while without significant wear on your tires and ride quality
personally I lowered my 94 prelude 1.5" & 1.7" w/neuspeed lowering springs, I kept my stock shocks and did not install a camber kit. The ride handles closely to stock and my tire wear has been pretty evenly
heres some pics of it lowered on 17" wheels

You're probably not going to mess anything up, but the setup will be much better if you get a set of shocks/struts to go with the springs, if you're gonna do it, do it right.
I also dropped mine on Neuspeed Sport springs w/ stock shocks, and I've had no problems. The ride is almost stock, and the shocks nor the tires have worn. 8+ months and going!
