i let my gf drive it a few weeks ago. although she did terrible (doesnt know how to drive stick) she almost killed the engine 7-8 times and killed it a few times. when she finally did get a decent launch she would romp on the gas and it felt fast although she doesnt kno how to drive stick at all.

today i let my friend drive it. he hit FUEL cut off...i guess he doesnt realize the car has short gears and how fast the car hits redline. even when he was driving my car regularly..it felt fast. everytime im in the passengar seat..the car just feels sooo fast. when im driving..it just feels normal, no matter how hard i push it.

i dunno...call me weird. but im starting to like being in the passenger more then being the driver. the car kicking you to the back of your seat is something i could get used too.

 

well, just wait till that somone miss shifts your car and bend some valves. just be carful man...

 

i understand what you're saying, but aint noone driving my familia... not because i dont want them to, but because they phsyically CANT

i dont know any of my friends that can drive it properly.. brass button mazdaspeed clutch makes it a bit difficult :D

 

Last guy on H-T that let his inexperienced friends drive his ITR ended up walking away from it TOTALED !!! So do be wise and careful with your decisions.

I guess I am really dumb because I let someone else autocross my car this past weekend. He was however, a very experienced driver who normally drives an Integra GSR that is so modified that it keeps up with the R. I trust him not to do anything stupid.

It was fun to see my car out on course going fast. It gives you a different perspective and a different appreciation of the R to see it driven at it's limits.

i drove my friend's R on wednesday night @ the track....lets just say i came out with a smile on my face....

 

I let a racecar driver drive my car at the track once.....even though the brake pads took a beating, I learned volumes from sitting there observing what he was doing, how the car was reacting and also a higher envelope of performance driving that I aspired to learn.

If I was to let someone (other than a hottie) drive my car, it usually is someone who is a better driver than me.

 

haha, sounds like you like being an observer more than being a participant. I only let my gf drive the car for 15 minutes max... I can't stand sitting on the wrong side for any long than that.

 

I have had my R for over three years now, and I am still the only one to have driven it (besides the service guys at Acura, and they like when I bring it in)

 

My mom drove it to the airport to pick me up, and when I got in it later, the shifter felt very and brittle. My dad also drove it and his technique was better, but he needs to be supervised. He doesn't pay that much attention on the road and has a habit of pulling to the right.

I might let my girl drive it...she kind of knows how to drive stick (her cousin used to date Juan Montoya!) and I think it would make her happy, given that she knows how **** I am about the car (I make her dust off the bottoms of her shoes before she gets in )

 

yeah then you can see how you look rollin (if your out of the car) i used to have my sis drive my cars up and down the street so i can see how bad *** they look rolling. i kinda pretended that i had too much to drink one night and had my girlie drive 1537. it was so cute...she drives it well, or well at least i though she looked good in control. hard to get her to redline it tho.

 

this is exactly the reason I let Kelly and I switched cars last night. At least I wanted to see what *my* unmod'd hood looked like at night in motion

I know what u mean. Whenever I drove my GS-R it felt slow to me. But when I let my friends drive it and I'm in the passenger's seat, the car feels way fast!

Ditto. I let my dad drive sometimes. Car feels A LOT faster when you're in the passenger seat...maybe because you're not the one controlling it. At speeds of 80+ MPH, I begin to tighten my arms and legs.

Also, I feel as though the car is faster when I drive at night...even on a humid night.

 

For me, I rode in the passenger seat of an Miata (automatic) for one week and my friend doesn't drive fast. After getting back home, the Type R felt so much faster than I remembered it.
