is my cluch gone? please help
hey ive been driving around alot this past week...around 1300 miles because ive been going to see firends and go to a concert n stuff...on my way back from st louis yesterday my car acted soooo strange. ive been told i needed a new clutch so im guessing thats it. when i push in the gas my car just revs high and barely goes..then it drops back down. i dont know how else to explain it. let me know what you thin so i can order whatever i need and make it back home ok. thanks!
If you shift gears and the rpmsstay high when ever the clutch is let out then it is time for a new clutch.
BTW, what interior pieces do you need?

drive slow in first gear. shift into fifth gear... the lower the car boggs the worse off the clutch it. a good clutch will stall out when you shift to 5th at a low speed.
If the clutch disengages high off of the floor then it is also pretty worn. For comparison, my new Exedy clutch engages just barely off of the floor.
I have the same problem, however it usually only happens when I'm trying to race. A couple mechaniclally inclined friends told me it could possibly just be the clutch slave cylinder, but at this point it could also be the clutch. Just something to think about.
actually you can pull up against a solid object (put something between), put the car into 5th and try starting out (or 4th). If the engine doesn't stall out or seems like it's going ok (IE> doesn't stall out with the cluth slipped a decent amount of the way) then you need to replace the clutch or the pressure plate its self

yeah. thats the test we used on older cars.... im not sure about these newer obd *****.....
ps: usually when you replace your clutch, you replace the whole thing... pressure plate and all. same goes with the flywheel, people tend to glaze the sucked while burning the clutch out.
