need help wtih closed deck and open deck..
i searched but i didnt find the answers i needed. when it is an open deck, coolant runs throught hte space right? but what happens when it is a closed deck. where does coolant run through? also, where does the water pump pump water to? where does it get water from? if i could get pictures, that would be a great help to explain this to me. TIA
A closed deck has holes that run the length of the sleeves allowing coolant to pass through them and cool the cylinders. I prefer to retain the open deck because the closed deck generally doesn't allow quite as large a bore due to it's design and restricts the flow of coolant somewhat. Most people probably don't understand the question, I'm not sure I do either. The water pumps water through the water channel on the back of the motor(B series) it travels through the heater, water jackets, & radiator.
