All I can say is the world is full of crooks trying to take advantage of every unsuspecting idiot that comes around.I went to a junk yard called Given's used parts in Gwinnett county Georgia, I asked the guy at the counter if he had any resistor boxes (it seemed to be one of those where they get the parts for you) he didn't even know what it was, understandable, as not everyone is into what I'm into, I explain where its located, insisting its not on the steering column like he thinks. So I ask him about how much they charge for them. Keep in mind he has NO idea what it is or does, and tells me AT LEAST $75. I just started laughing, and told him I could build one with resistors from radio shack. His response is (again he doesn't know what it is or does) tells me its not the same thing. We all know it does the same thing with out the box!

Moral of the story, newbies research and ask around for the cost of everything or someone like this idiot will take you for all your worth. Sorry I posted here, but I thought it might help some of you out.

you can normally pick up a resistor box for about $30-40, used of course.
but if you look around you can find them for even less sometimes.

junk/salvage yards don't always know what we're talking about, or even what they're talking about. and they will try to take you for as much as possible if they don't know you. so always beware when going to a yard that you've never been too, or if it's your first time to a yard period.

which one was it?

My brother went to an all vw junkyard after emailing them with the part he needed, they said they had it and quoted him a price 2 hr roundtrip later, they didn't even have it plus the price they quoted him was a lie.

What are some good yards to pull from around Atlanta? I haven't had any luck finding any in NE GA (Athens area).

A resistor box isn't worth more than $20.00, tops. I dont care if its cast in a golden heat sink, you could pull the resistors you need out of old broken electronics you find on the side of the road and wire them inline to your injectors for the cost of a few butt conectors. Good job researching and trying to know what the part your looking for does, thats definetly the best way not to get ripped off, that or know someone at the yard itself..

I have benn selling them for 35, I count the fuel, time, pain and discusting people you have to deal with in that price. But ya, you can pick them up real cheap sometimes, esp if you pull them yourselves.

Just find another junk yard and "borrow" one like I did.

They are like a dime a dozen in junk yards. I almost considered pulling them all from yards around here and selling them.
