Ok i just finished my mpfi swap the other day, and at first i did not have a fast idle, but now when i start the car, the engine revs to like 2000rpm for a few minutes, and then drops the revs to under 1000rpm. I was wondering what could cause this??? I am going to replace the PCV valve today, because when i pinched it, it did not rattle, and that is what my helms books said was the check for that. Would a bad PCV vavle do this to my car???

BTW - I am not throwing any codes, and I have an 89 civic DX.

 

Thats normal buddy. Hondas rev up to 1500-2000 RPM when the engine is cold, then drop to thier normal idle when your car warms up.

 

good to know, my DPFI did not do this so, i was kinda wierded out by this.

how big of a difference did u feel after the mpfi swap? how much did it cost u to do?

 

big difference with the MPFI swap... i pulled on my buddies civic si ZC, and yeah the car moves along quite nicely now... the total swap cost me a little over 200, 150 for the intake manifold, distributor, and wire harness. Then 15 for the injector resistor box. and then like 40 bucks of misc. hoses from honda. for 200 bucks there are not many mods that show results like this one.
