how to properly paint wheels?
i'm receiving a new set of kosei k1 from tirerack on monday. i picked up some plasti-kote car body paint from pep boys today.
i'm wondering, since the wheels are new (no dirt, oil, salt, etc.), can i just clean & spray the wheels (paint then clearcoat) out of the box or should i go more involved? will i need to go all out: remove the factory paint with aircraft stripper, 400grit sand, prime, sand, paint, and clearcoat?
anyone see a reason why car body paint isn't sufficient? i do track the car, but i don't forsee the wheels getting so hot i melt the new paint.

no need to strip.
sand wheel, prime, then paint.
sand wheel, prime, then paint.
The K1's have a clearcoat on them, so you may need to remove most of that, but there is no need to take the finish down to bare metal.
Use something like a scotchbrite pad then follow up with 320 or 400 grit sandpaper to prime.
