Default would it cause a problem if i removed this?

i recently noticed that the hose that runs from the top of my valve cover to the side of my intake is crimped and bent down by the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail (right where the hose plugs up to the intake piping). this got me thinking, could i just remove the actual metal piping in the middle of the length of the hose? this metal piping is also connected to 2 other hoses that apparently run either coolant or vented gasses as well. i've got the brass fittings to couple just the rubber hoses together and to allow me to take out the metal part so i can get the hose to the intake not to crimp...but i've noticed that every time i touch that metal piping after running the car it's very hot. is this metal here to help dissipate heat? or am i just being paranoid? i want to just remove the metal piping and mate the respective rubber hoses together. any ideas / warnings?

here's a pic to help you understand what i'm talking about:

cool, that's what i was thinking i would do. but i figure if i'm going to replace one set of hoses, i might as well just replace both of them and get that metal thing out of there. damn thing's ugly and it gets hot as nuts.

if the engine's been off for a while i should still be able to disconnect that coolant hose and then reconnect it real quick without coolant spraying everywhere right? it shouldn't be under pressure unless the water pump is functioning, isn't that right?

you will probably have a little bit of coolant leak out, but shouldn't make a difference.

just take the hose off of the intake and the valve cover. then put a plug on the intake and a breather on the valve cover. thats what i have done. and just leave the original hose just chillin there.

I heard breathers were no good because it intakes dirty elements...

i never really understood the breather idea because i was under the impression that the hose that goes from the valve cover to the intake flowed from the VC to the intake (since that's the side that's doing the sucking). seems like putting on a breather might let air flow into the valve cover instead of out of it.

With my injen intake i recieved a little PVC like plastic connector. It simply connected the hose where the aluminum went. They also sent a new hose to connect from the intake to the valve cover. I'll bet you could call and get one from them .

hey, that's a pretty cool thing for injen to do. instead of PVC connectors i went and got some brass fittings...but beyond that, sounds like that same setup i was planning on. for injen.

Ok i did this last week it's easy as hell.
Step:
(make sure your car has been off for like 20 min.
1.) pull out the hose that runs to your intake and valve cover.
2.) Unclip the lines that run to the metal tubes, (coolant lines) from both ends.
3.) Remove the metal lines but remember coolant is running through them so keep the rubber lines that run to it up to prevent a lot of fluid loss.
4.) after removing the metal lines i just cut off the end of one of the metal lines, it kind of looks like a long *****.
5.) then reconnect the coolant lines to both ends of the *****. At the base of the shaft and the head. I slid the coolant line that runs down the shaft pretty far in, just in case.
6.) reclip everything.
7.) Then after being so arroused after doing everything, beat off.

If you take a better lit close pic i can show you. And i'll try to post a pic tomarrow.

you dont even need to do all that. just get 2 pieces of hose and connect everything instead of using the metal piece. Breather filters are a bad idea, you want a vacuum on your PCV to vent all the nasty **** out of your crankcase, otherwise it just sits in the crankcase or it comes out the filter and gets the engine bay all nasty. The EASIEST fix for this? Just leave it.
