Default How did you solve your gas mielage problem?

I've been having a crappy time trying to fix my gas mielage...

for all integra owners who've had bad mielage before... how'd you fix it... what was the specific problem?

i've tried everything, sparkplugs, fuel cleaner, oil change, tire pressure....all the tar is removed from my car, no spare, no rear seats, and i'm barely getting 180 per tank

How? I just got 320mi on my last fillup and this is with a lot of WOT bursts and several 130mph runs. Did you change your air and fuel filter? Maybe you need a tuneup? What are your mods?

get your injectors/combustion chamber professionally cleaned if you haven't done it on your car yet

Local full service mechanics do this if they have the machine. I did it and gained NOTHING on my 100,000+ mile 95 GSR in term of gas milage.

if you don't have a Vtec OBD 2 car than you can easily replace the cat with a straight through pipe. Put it back in before taking emissions you'll be fine. Some are as cheap as $60 and they add a little power.

off topic and has nothing to do w/tegs but just from reading this thread i have realized how many avatars(ingrate) there are of kristen kurek...at least 5+ people and ppl like FROSTYDC4 who has "Kristen Kreuk is hot!" in his sig. MMM....she's so hot

Anyway, did you always get bad milage? or did this happen after a while, i'd check all your filters and what not...maybe need a tune-up like someone else suggested.

You don't get engine check lights if you get a straight through cat on an obd 1 car only on an obd 2 car. What kind of car do you have? I have an LS so i don't have to worry about vtec, and i also removed my back seats. But I think one of the biggest things is driving on a half tank of gas. I always put in $10.00 of gas every 3-4 days and that takes me 120 miles. (the gas buys 5.8 gallons) i also don't puch my car from every stop light. i shift from 1st to 3rd to 5th and normally cruise in 5th anywhere from 25 up.

25mph in 5th??

you'd actually be hurting your gas milage. you'd have to step on the gas so hard to gain any speed that you'd actually be wasting gas.

I cut my Vtec time in half. Instead of 20x a day I do it 10. LOL

Make sure you've done all your maintenance. Make sure your spoiler is on tight. I noticed my mileage went down a lil when mine got loose. I had a bad tire valve one time and that took my mileage down a lot. I try keep all my tires at 40psi. Try changing your gas, it may help a lil. On my last tank w/ some city driving and multiple daily redlines onto the freeways I got 404 miles on 87 chevron gas. Damn gas prices.

Notice i said cruise, not accelerate. I down shift to fouth or third to accelerate. and besides when i'm doing 30 in 5th my rpms are like at 2000. low.

get some injector cleaner, run higher octane, "TRY" keep it out of the high rpm's, get a new fuel filter, run a stock ecu for that particular motor...(chipped ecu's gie you the mileage that you've been getting), and yeah......just drive slower?

took some of the advice on this board and put in stp gas treatment with my last tank. i usually get 180 a tank, and it got bumped up to 270...

will it always be like this, or only with tanks where i add stp gas treatment?
