I cant get my intake manifold off of the head


any ideas?

 

try giving it a smack w/ a rubber hammer or a block of wood. i had the same problem when i was changing manifolds and the gasket was like glue. on a solid piece of metal like the intake manifold, physical force wont really mess anything up, just be careful not to damage the mating surface on the head.

you double check ALL the bolts are off?

you need to pull the head NOT up, but away from the head.

 

did you remove the intake manifold bracket? (under the manifold, 90% of the time its missed)

 

pry it off

 

 

it does not need to be pried off. you could damage it.

at the most a few whacks with a rubber mallet. but like i said, im willing to bet he didnt remove the IM bracket.

i knew someone would say damage..thats y u pry through the runners not in them

 

well you didnt say that.

and you still dont need to pry anything.

the intake manifold is held on by a PAPER GASKET when everything is removed.

 

i thought ur smart *** could figure out not to pry off at the head lol...

 

i know how to remove an intake manifold
but he is obviously asking so odds are
he dosent.
