Default Exedy Clutch Woes

I'm asking the ITR guys, since you seem to have the most expierience with this clutch, and the problems and the coximport.com ordeal.

I purchased my exedy organic clutch, and chromoly flywheel from coximport. Messing with the tranny was just something i didnt want to touch, so i bit the bullet and had it installed by a respectable mechanic in my area, making sure he took notice of the warning/bulletin exedy included with the clutch.
I broke the clutch in for 1000 miles, and take it pretty easy. I currently have 6,000 miles on the clutch.

Now, during disengagement, (letting out the clutch) it feels like it's sticking, and when the windows are down and @ idle, it squeeks and creaks during disengagement. It just feels like a pedal somewhere needs to be lubricated, but there have been so many problems with this clutch, I'd just like some input. Thanks.

Eef... I don't have any suggestions... but I'm sorry you're along the many having problems.

On a lighter note, I can point you to a PDF file that will solve ALL of your exedy clutch issues!

try lubricating the slave cylinder and possibly the clutch pedal.

The clutch fork pivot ball has a tendency to squeak if it is not properly lubricated. Whenever I do a clutch, I clean all of the old grease from all of the contact parts and apply fresh high temp. urea grease. If you remove the slave cylinder, you can remove the little rubber boot from the side of the transmission. Once that is off, you can pop the clutch fork off of the pivot ball with a pocket screwdriver. Then apply some form of high temp. grease to the inside of the fork where it contacts the pivot ball, and apply some grease to the pivot ball itself.
Then use the pocket screwdriver to pop the clutch fork clips back over the pivot ball and reinstall everything that you took off. Lube the little socket in the clutch fork that the slave cylinder pushes against as well.
Or you can do what some people do, slide the boot open and use spray lithium grease and a straw to spray the pivot ball. That fix usually lasts a little while. Good luck.

thanks guys. it didnt feel like there was something wrong with the clutch, but I've seen alot of posts, and a search showed quite alot of Exedy problems.....
The one thing that amazed me in my search was that there are alot of ACT fans. I know ACT used to sell mostly re-manuf. clutches, and revamped their line about a year back, but never heard alot of quality reviews from them. But than again I've never heard of a non-oem clutch without problems.
thanks!
