Fais, Kelly & Yoshi is there an ITREXPO?
Looks like Fais, Kelly and Yoshi are the ones that are SUPPOSED to be in charge!
Further, it looks like it will be necessary to open up the entry list to non-ITRs to make this thing "come off"
(but that as yet that decision has NOT been made, as per an e-mail from "the Wiz").
First, I'd like to thank Yoshi for putting forth the effort to answer EXPO questions, and to say that it was nice IM-ing yesterday!
Secondly, the rest of you guy... GET OFF YOUR ASSES, (sorry, seems it had to be said, ... and this includes you last minute registrants)!!!!!
Definately decision time, almost 1 month till expo, and it looks like there's nobody home
Frankly, I'm really tired of repeating myself on this "EXPO" stuff (yes, I DO work, and have other stuff to attend to)!
Lastly, I would like to thank Bat, Scott, Chris, Andrew, ... and all the others that have "kept up the EXPO faith".
lead, follow or get out of the way! ed

I'm sorry to say this, but I am tired of hearing about the ITR expo. Whether or not I open the thread, it seems like every other post is ITR expo this, ITR expo that.

I'm very sorry to say... I won't be able to make it. I sincerely apologize to everyone.
I had planned on riding out with White Dragon, but he has some work issues that are conflicting. My ITR isn't ready and $$ is definately a factor for me at this point. White Dragon notified me today that he won't be able to attend.
I also want to say that once I learned of the interest DROPPING off for this event (19 paid registrants)...this was about the time when something happened with my finances. Well, to say the least I was dissapointed. I was all geared up for a HUGE event. At least 100 ITRs in attendance. Vendors (Toda, JUN, etc) on hand and all. The recent LACK of interest kind of brought me down as well. I'm not saying this IS the reason for me not attending, but it definately bummed me out. I had still planned on coming out, but it just doesn't really seems possible for me. Finacially I really do have more obligations I need to attend to.
I'm truly SORRY to all of you that have worked so hard to make this happen.

I agree with YD, the lack of enthusiasm sucks, i remember 6 or 7 months ago everyone was like "EXPO EXPO EXPO" now its like "expo aahhhh"
YD =
, 00ps I meant
juju...
but seriously, we have way more than 19 paid entrants. (more like 2 to 3 times more). I'm having dinner w/ a bunch of ITR owners tonite, so add about another 7 entrants. It really sucks that interest is wanning but ah well. Less cars = more track time for those that *do* attend
yoshi - who goes to find out exactly how many entries we have

I think that having it somewhere more centrally located would have helped as well.. yeah yeah I know socal people are setting it up but that doesn't mean much to those who would have to drive from the east coast to make it....
Even if I had a ITR I wouldn't go for that reason alone actually...

The fact its all the way across country made up my mind for me... for a ITR wide Expo, it should've been more central to everyone else. I would've been more likely to drive to texas or the middle of the US then all the way to Cali from Delaware.. Just my .02 cents..
I think a large part of the malaise (25cent word for the day) is that people see the 19 paid entrants on the website, and wonder why they should go.
It is imperative that you put up the additional entrants, perhaps marking those that are still in check limbo due to the initial snafu. This is about marketing yourselves, and with such a short attendence list you are not doing it.
If none of you have the time, I'll pull the site's source down myself and if you'll send me a list I'll add the names and send the updated file bak to you for posting. Either way, something should be done, and soon, to show people that we have ~50 entrants so far and not just 19.

zyg: maybe you missed where I said "more centrally located".. which last time I checked a map, KS was more centrally located.. so I'd be *more* willing to drive to Topeka than CA.
And BTW, what makes you think I wouldn't? Considering that you don't even know me nor where I have driven for track events.

I know the expo sounds really cool and all, but think of us east coast guys for a second. While I know there are people that are going to becoming from the east coast area. Thats going to be almost 5000 miles round trip for some. thatd be $350 dollars in gas alone. Then the hotel stays for 6 nights to drive across country and back,(this isnt the cannonball run), $500.00. Then food (god forbid if your B18cxR and theres a Jack in the box) at least another $500.00.
I just think if it was in a more central location we'd have more of a turn-out. Hell how bout Texas! Fortunately I have driven at the some of the most exciting tracks in the world and some of us havent, a lot of us have family's too consider( boba's kids arent gonna cooperate for 5000 miles of Clark Grizzwold driving). I'm just saying, think of us (the east coast guys) next time, if there is one.
Boba- who'd really like to go and money isnt an issue, just time.

You know having it in Cali seems to be a big mistake (no offense). Boomerde has point, driving to Cali is insane especially if its like a two day event only. Gas alone will be over $450 and thats not counting the track driving or cruising around Cali. And for us Easterners we'll have tached on at least 5,000 miles of traveling...thats more than what I put on the car in 2 months!
Uhh correct me if I'm wrong here, but the expo is sponsored and organized by the Southern California ITR club....with emphasis on Southern California.
If you want an eastern Expo, get off your asses an organize one. Or organize a "national" expo somewhere in Kansas so it can rain on your two day event. Are there any good tracks in Kansas or the midwest that will host such an event? Do you know? Have you checked into this? Do you know how much it would cost? I bet not.
Why are you guys getting your panties in such a twist and being so critical? This is an inaugural event. There are going to be problems and not everyone is conceivably going to be able to attend/bring their car. The logistics of organizing such an event are complicated enough, let alone trying to do it while you work at your job.

Big: My bad, I thought this was kinda being marketed as a "national" event??? If not, then by all means host it in CA, but that leaves people little room to complain about registrants.
And yes, I know the cost of setting up track events. But I'm sure most people here do not.
Good luck all and I hope the event goes well, if it does, perhaps a national event may be in order for you ITR guys/gals.

Sorry Dave, your right, I DON'T know you, and therefore I appologize for what I'd implied (though that's not saying I was wrong, right?).
BoBa--- Grizwald
good point!
... I've done quiet a few of the tracks on the East coast as well (as well as first test for an EE PE, no need to take the second for my job).
Otherwise, with all due respect to the rest of you, the EXPO is just my personal excuse to finally drive to Cali.
wrt mileage concerns, what else is a car for?
wrt $, vacations aren't usually free
And, last but not least (as to why it's in CAli), they came up with the idea FIRST
As someone said in the excuse poll, love ya all
no hard feelings, ed

Seems most of you forgot or are t00 new to this board to know, but the only reason it's in SoCal is b/c YD and his buddies were thinking of coming out to CA. Somehow it went from YD and his buddies are driving out to CA to -->> why not just have an ITR Expo!
Maybe the Expo turnout is not what we had hoped, but we're still determined to make it worthwhile for ALL that attend. We know that it's not in the most convenient location for all ITR owners to attend, but it had to start somewhere.

zyg: in all honesty.. it would depend on the track.. I'd glady drive a few thousand miles to drive on a exciting/fun track that I haven't been on before.. now whether or not there are any in KS.. hehe I don't know. I have [edit: driven] well over 1,000 miles for some track drving before though so without knowing the track selected in the midwest I can't really say if you are right or not
Those who have decided to go I wish you all a safe trip/event, take lots of pics

bingo!!!!!!!!
when this decision was made last year everyone had the the chance to state their opinion and possibly take charge.
in the mid US would have been the ideal place but i don't remember anyone volunteering to put this together other than the guys out west. so if you have a problem with there it, tough!!! do something about it and step up for next year.
thanks again to everyone involved in putting this together and everyone attending. sould be a great time.
