Default need new, quieter, exhaust

i have a b16 in my crx, with stock manifold, gutted cat, 2.25" piping go straight out to the passenger side, with a big muffler.

I wanna route it back to original, and run the muffler along the rear bumper.... Does anybody know what size fits under there, or what the stock muffler lenght, diameter is?? Also, what kind of muffler do you recommend, thats not expensive, quiet, but sounds good at high revs??

Would a oem like muffler, just with bigger inlet/outlet, be too restrictive for the b16??

I believe stock piping on a CRX Si is 2" and lower models are a little less. I have a flowmaster 40 series, I think. I love this muffler; it sounds great. Flowmasters are baffled mufflers, so I think I would get a glasspack if I were to do it again. Some realitivly inexpensive mufflers that looked attractive were Summit Racing brand mufflers. Magnaflow is a muffler that is installed around my area as a shop that donesn't really do performance work. They have a lifetime warranty, I believe, but my sister noticed her car (which had flowmasters installed) was louder, but I thought it was still realitivly quiet compared to mine. (hers: Pontaic V6, mine: Honda d16a6 [I4]) I was surprised, but I guess hers could get louder as the glasspack mufflers break in. Another company that I've been hearing people loving on s-series truck forums is Spintech or something like that.

Take from that what you want...there are a lot of variables so my info might not be completely accurate either. First, I'd look more into the Summit mufflers and possibly an additional resonator. Large OEM sounds attractive, but I don't know. Good luck getting what you want.

Your not gonna get much power out of a larger OEM muffler because of the way there designed. You can still have mandrel bent piping and a straight through muffler but use a real hi-flow cat and a good resonator.

As my current setup, would i feel a power loss if used an oem muffler?
