Get the D-16 Z6 head. It flows better than the Y-8.

Make a change? holy **** yes..

ZC pistons in a a6 yeild about a 10.5 c/r that with a Y8 head, and y8 gasket you are looking to run around 12.5 c/r if not higher. **** hope pump gas works out for you.. heh.

And yes the Z6 head does flow better than the y8. But the y8 intake manifold flows better than that z6.

I'm starting to think more about this, and I think its actually more like 12.7

Because just a normaly mini-me is around 10.5ish and the pistons will add another 1.2 ontop of that.

The Z6 head will just be like .2 lower than the y8

Go to http://www.dseries.org, all they deal with is D series, and they constantly say that the Z6 head out flows tha Y-8.

According to one guy, who tested it at the track, a stock Z6 head will out flow a ported and poliched Y8 head.

nice link, too bad it doesn't have the values for the different pistons!

do you think that it be reliavle or good for dayly use

i had a mini me but i blow 4 valves so i could try the si head or fix the z6 head

are the D16A1 ones and ZC pistons the same??..which would give more compression?

Get the D-16 Z6 head. It flows better than the Y-8.
The y8 cam is better than that of the z6 though and it has a better intake mani also. Time to get hybrid and use the z6 head with y8 mani and cam. Just my opinion though.

88-89 a1 piston as the same as ZC, the 86-87 does lower compression

I built a D15 with zc pistons and an A6 cam and put it in an 89 Si. It out ran a 97 Ex. the Si even had 17z. HeHe. The wrist pin size is the same. the rod and crank journals are different though.

that's an interesting setup. do you have any more info you could share, like ETs or dyno numbers?

I don't have any numbers on it. soon after building the motor and installing, a friend offered more than i could pass. Everything cleared. I did have to advance the distr. completely though. apparrently the Si cam timing is different. he's getting an adj. gear and cat-back soon. I'm starting on my D16a6 with teg pistons in a week.

yeah i know when you use an Si cam, that the timing is a tooth off.
heard that from Mista Bone.

a6 block/HG, 88-89 teg/zc pistons, y8 head no mill = 12.20:1
a6 block/HG, 88-89 teg/zc pistons, z6 head no mill = 11.66:1

88-89 a1 piston as the same as ZC, the 86-87 does lower compression
it lowers compression abit....i wouldnt use it though because it has like no valve reliefs. it sits higher in the bore and has a smaller dome than the 88-89 p29.

Get the D-16 Z6 head. It flows better than the Y-8.
ive also heard this on www.theoldone.com
