jacking points to lift car?
I just bought myself a trolley floor jack and I"m wondering, where do i stick it so i can start lifting the car up?
i know its somewhere under the bumper of the car cause there's this little arrow on the plastic thing under the bumper...
but where the arrow points, its still plastic... i thought i lift at a point thats part of the frame of the car?

its like a silver metal stump that sticks out. Maybe feel for it if you cant see it. Just stick your hand underneath the middle of your bumper and move your hand down till you feel it. It should be there!
you can also jack the car up from the tow hooks as well.. i do this all the time. ANd then if you are wondering where to place teh stands... put them under the metal slits that stick out under the car near the side skirt area.

in the front.. kind of off center.. by the radiator and bottom side front fascia you'll see a little cup/indentation that sticks out... its metal and part of the frame/front end this is where I jack up the front w/ my floor jack...
in the rear you just use the rear tow hook...
for the jack stand placement.. just use the little slots where you would place the stock emergency jack... (behind front wheels for the front.. in front of rear wheels for the rear.. those little slits on the side..look in your manual)...

if your car is too low to use the regular hydraulic jacks, then use the stock scissor jack that is in ur trunk and jack up ur car from teh side skirt area enough so that you can slide in the other jack from the front or whereever u want to jack from.
What i do, since my car is so low, i just lift up the car myself since im too lazy to use the emergency jack, and slide the floor jack under
sure beats turning that thingy.

94-97 tegs have a little plastic rectangle with an arrow on it in the middle of the splashguard (look under bumper, middle). If you've hit a few speedbumps in you're time the arrows probably gone, but you should see a scraped up plastic rectangle sticking down. Stick a jack under that and you can lift the entire front no probs (underneth the plastic bump there is a reinforced jack point, and the plastic is there to protect it). Then you can just stick the stands under the two side jack points behind the front wheels and you're golden. On the rear jack from the rear tow hook/tie down hook and stick the stands under the rear side points.

you can drive the front wheels up on 2 x 4's to elevate it a little more so that you have clearance for your floor jack for the front central jacking point.. whats funny was that my 2.5 ton jack was higher (need more clearance) than my 3+ ton SUV jack whch was larger, wider, and had higher lift.. but lower clearance... heh
