How to primer fenders?
I got some used fenders for my crx, and i want to primer them before i put them on... Later on the whole car is going to be painted, right now the fenders are orange and my car is white.. So i want to primer the fenders first, what exactly do i have to do? Like what kind of sand paper, how much do i sand? if there is a small dent on the fender do i use bondo to fill it? and then sand it down? Then ofcoarse i spray it with the primer.. thanks for any help...
First of all clean the surface of the fender that way you won't put scratches on the fender when you are sanding. Then you can wet sand it.Use 3m sanding paper (forgot which one)I think its the 300 or 400 one.Not the rough one.Sand until it is smooth where the clear clot is gone. After that you can start to primer.Thats all I can think of rite now.Good Luck
best thing you can do is spray the entire fender with aircraft stripper, which will remove all paint and clear coat, then spray one coat of primer on, wet sand, and spray another coat.
