Default why just a type r intake cam???

i'm curious as to why its mentioned you can just use type r intake cam? this is for a b18c so is that just a budget suggestion for those that can't afford the whole set? and one more questions...what are the benefits of using both type r cams opposed to just the intake cam?

i'm sort of new to the NA route so help would be much appreciated.

This isn't something I've done so I don't have firsthand knowledge, but I believe the intake cam provides a notably greater benefit than the exhaust cam. If you have a tight budget, it's probably the way to go.

I don't remember where I saw this, but I think if the car has more cylinder pressure, it makes more tourqe, heh, I'm not too sure about our engines making alot of tourqe, but any tourqe is welcome for me. tourqe times RPM divided by 5252 = horsepowa! I know the type r intake cams are bigger then the exhaust cams. people just take this idea and extend it. I hope this answers your question.

The main reason: Budget, or lack thereof! hehe! But you still get the power gains with just the intake cam. The R exhaust cam compliments the breathing flow of the ITR/CTR cam more so than the GSR cam.

I ran for a long time with just the CTR intake cam until I could come up with the funds for the exhaust cam.

ok lets say i can get the both the ITR and CTR intake cam for the same price which would be the best bet? if i'm not mistaken i would think the CTR is...now i really don't have anything else besides I/H/E and as of this point all i have money for is the cam and maybe cam gears.

I believe the 00-01 ITR intake cam is identical to the CTR cam. Buy the cheaper of the two.
