if ur water pump is bad then it will leak onto the oilpan. if its not leaking then it may be old. when was the last time u changed it? and when does ur temp raise? and if it cools down then when does it?

can't remember the last time the water was changed, if ever! sad to say but it's true... when u say leak over to the oil pan... does that mean i would see antifreeze fluid on the oil pan?

the car heats up really fast, i'd say after about 10-15 minutes of regular driving...

my guage has the low end at about the 7 o'clock position... and the high end at 11 o'clock position, after about 10-15 min of driving, i'm sitting at about between 9 and 10 o'clock position...

hope that helps!

Have you checked your thermostat?

Have you checked your thermostat?
Have you checked your coolant? Notice any puddles of water form under your car with the AC off when you sit idle for a while? Does your engine heat up only at red lights and cool down when you drive?

Do Accords have tempature sensors like Civics do? My Civic was heating up and it turned out to be my coolant temperature sensor...

If you have had the cooling system open, it may just have air in it.

Let me know and I can post bleeding instructions.

I jus changed my radiator hose, cause believe it or not, it had expanded to an unusually large size, scared the crap outta me cause i thought it would burst!

Mixed up my coolant 50/50 and changed it...

The car still heats up... let's jus say the car is always at about 60-65% hotness on the guage?

How do i test the thermostat?

If it stays in that range, it's not overheating.

So 60-65% is normal?... i always thought it stayed at or lower than 30-40%?

Most stay in the 1/4-3/4 range. They're not overheating until they get into the red. If it's going over 3/4, there may be a problem.

With the car running and warm open this bleeder to let the air out of the system.

I promise if you had a hose off and didnt do this it WILL run hot.

Opening this will spit and sputter coolant/air out. Open/Close every 10 seconds or so until it quits sputtering (4 or 5 times).

to test the thermostat
get a temprature gauge of some kind... and heat a pan of water up to the temprature stamped on the side of the 'stat. Toss it in the water and see if it opens, if it doesnt, you've got a bad one

it's cheaper to replace it than to test it and replace the gasket and everything... so just get a nice stant and replace.

I am being lazy so I am just going to copy and paste this from a differnt board...

The swap has been running great untill recently. Been having major cooling issues , if I let it sit and idle or am in heavy stop and go traffic it will start to heat going past the half way point in some cases. Today after I bled off the air that like an idiot I forgot to do after I finished the swap. Any way take it out and it shots to red line in a matter of minutes after I let it warm up. It did bleed off quite a bit of coolant (antifreze) that I did not replace. Is it getting so hot due to me not replacing the coolant or is it a differnt issue? My fans are not turning on when it warms up but only after I shut the car off will they come on and then shut off once it cools down. I am really lost at this point as to what this could be. I am not throwing any codes. Also I have been getting an infrequent idle surge where it goes from 1k up to 2k and back and forth. It comes and gos at random most of the time coming after I have stated the car and have drove a little or its siting and idleing.

Cliffs notes: Temp gauge in car indicates that motor is getting very hot, fans only kick on when I shut the car completely off, bleen air out of colant and made issue worse, did not add more colant, surging idle at odd times from 1k-2k, no codes, when swap was done front sensor for second fan was carred over

Thanks for any help in advance
