"The new RSX Type R is the fastest front wheel drive car in the World"
At least that is what Honda said. In the July issue of Road and Track there is a small article on the RSX Type R in which Honda claims it will be the fastest front wheel drive in the world...hmm thats quite a statement.

Its front wheel drive though? I dont see 300hp coming out of any Cadillac unless its some sort of special limited edition.....
But then again...I guess the ITR is too sorta.

Rick,
First off, the current ITR is pulling off faster 1/4 times than the previous GST/GSX (ITR=14.5-14.7 vs the GST's 14.9-15.2) stock for stock. The RSX is actually going to have torque not to mention a nice powerband (supposedly).
About the caddy, they already have the 300hp 5.7L DOHC V8 on every northstar ETC motor, so that is nothing new. HTH, -C

MT has the (1999) Caddy Seville STS timed at:
0-60: 6.8 sec.
1/4 mile: 15.1 @ 93.2
Some British Mag has the new ITR 1/4 mile at 14.3. I don't know the MPH.

I kno what focus you are talking about. There is also the FR200 but who knows if they are actually going to go into production.
The new Sentra GTR or something (dont know the exact R Label) But Last I read It beat out the old Type-R's Lap time in japan. So maybe it will be on par with the New RSX Type-R. I think it was rated at 180hp and 180ftlbs of torque at 6000Rpm's Nice to say the least.
The term "fastest" is certainly relative and vague. Fastest on a road course? Fastest in a Solo II? Fastest 0-60? Fastest 1/4 mile time? Fastest 60-0? Fastest stolen from your driveway?
Marketing can make all the claims they want with terms like "Fastest."

Even the new 3.2 CL Type S is a 14 second car stock. I wanna say 14.7 if i recall correctly but i could be wrong....SO the type-r is going to have be atleast that fast so it is only going to fster than it is now.

and the CL-S is supposedly getting a 6 spd manual later this year too. But it would never beat the 02 ITR around a road course.

the key word may be "fastest" ... which means speed and its ability to accelerate .... as opposed to "quickest"
At 200hp, it verywell may be the fastest (naturally aspirated, 4 banger).
As for the Focus in Europe, I think Cosworth put their two-cents into the ZETEC motor and hence ... the car will FLY !!!

I was just told that the Type R RSX will not be coming to the U.S. now. There will be the basic 160hp RSX, and, the top one will be the Type S which is 200hp.
Who knows, maybe it'll take them a couple of years to bring it over. That's what they did with the original Type R.

The Type R RSX should be coming in around two years...the turbo Focus in Europe pulls 15.0 flat.
Hmmm...Honda sure has got some ***** to say something like that.

I read an article in which a honda spokesperson said that the RSX Type S is capable of pulling off a 5.8-6.0sec 0-60 so you can just imagine what the Type R will do. An extra 15-20hp and bit of a diet..........that's pretty scary. Someone do the math please.
That is the Sentra SE-R Spec V, and Nissan tested it under their own controlled circumstances at the track they picked, so who do you think would be faster ........
Carlos Ghosn has been given the mission by Renault to make Nissan profitable, and they aren't going after the Camry/Accord crowd. They're going for the fringe groups like car enthusiasts, which is back to the roots that made the company successful in the first place. He has specified that all Nissan modles would have the highest specific output for their class. He means to bring Nissan back to the top of the ladder, you don't do that by fudging the results to make you appear to look good. He used to be my father's boss at Michelin before going on to Renault and I can tell you from experience, he will get the job done.
I'd almost be willing to bet that those times were done by a Type R driven by one of Honda's own test drivers at Suzuka, the track where the Type R was originally tuned and developed. Anything else wouldn't have meant anything to a man like Ghosn.
