remove back seats? What is it like under there?
In the next few weeks I will be adding a sub in my 94 acoord 2 door. I am feeling a little bad about adding the extra weight so I was thinking about removing the back seats. Does anyone know how much they weigh? Do you think that without the seats in the way the sub would be louder? Whats it like under the seats? Is it bare metal or carpet? If its bare metal, how would I go about putting carpet down? What is you guys general thoughts? sorry for all the Qestions, I tried a search.
While I am making a post...
A few months ago I was driving down the highway when the wind ripped my front drivers side wheel well liner right out! Should I bother to replace it? There is some wires exposed but they are insulated pretty good. what about rust?
Thanks a lot for all the help, I love this board. I learn so much stuff.
Edit:where would I buy a new wheel well liner?

the back seat i very light..not worth it imo
it's a aluminum plating with a puffy stuff wrap around with leather/cloth.
people edge/shave away the undercoating after they remove the seat.
it's gonna be bare metal after the seats are taken out.
I took it out once

My friend had to take out the back seat in his Stealth because one of the seat belts got stuck. I was over his house at the time, and I saw a bunch of padding, and aluminum.
LOL, I did that. Took out the stock EX leather seats in my accord, and put in Sparco Torino replicas. Hella light. Then came the seat bracket and sliders. Heavy! They're probably lighter than the seats, but not by much. As for the backseat, don't take it out. Too much headache. Its really light. It comes apart in 4 pieces.
they dont weigh much. If you want to save weight, replace the front seats. The accord front seats weigh a ****!

Thanks for your help. After looking at those pics I think I will keep the seats. I have already come to turms that my car is slow.
But back to the wheel well, Does anyone think there is a problem with not having one? Trying to figure out if its my worth my time and effort.

Ive been driving around without both fender wall linings for at least 6 months. Only problem I have is it gets dirty and my filter gets wet when it rains. Oh well, hey cooler air! Just make sure your wires are secure and you should be fine.
Heres what i did when i took out my back seat becasue the previous owners like used it as a rag or soemthing
All it is is speaker box carpet and heavy duty souynd deadner underneath, looks ok but the capret color is a lil off, o well.

Here's what's under there:

If anyone thinks I was going for weight savings, nope:

Here are some weights (in lbs):
sound deadening 20.0
passenger seat 39.5
rear seat bottom 16.5
rear seat back 24.0
floor carpet 10.5
floor mats 11.0
front door panels 11.5
rear door panels 11.5
misc trim 1 9.0
misc trim 2 8.5
headliner 4.0
trunk side liner/rear deck 6.0
trunk floor/rear liner 8.0
sunroof 36.0
Removing the rear seat bottom and back will save you ~40.5 lbs, about 25~33% the weight of an average passenger.
